Currently, there's a Whispersync for Voice sale where you can buy the audiobook for 99 cents (if you already have or buy the Kindle book). It's a pretty nice selection.

I can personally recommend the Retrieval Artist books by Kristine Kathryn Rusch. I've listened to the first three and they're great scifi mysteries. The narration is good too.

The White Trash Zombie books by Diana Rowland are great too but I haven't listened to the audiobooks. I originally bought them for the title and totally didn't expect them to actually be good books.

Oh thank you! There were three Susanna Kearsley titles on that list I'd bought on sale a while back, and now I can get the audiobooks for next to nothing (well, actually *nothing* as they are being purchased with credit). A very nice deal!

Um.....I'm on the 2-credits a month plan, so I pay about $11 per credit. I'd never use one of those to pay for an audiobook I could get for $1. Did you get an especially great price on your credits?

Oh sorry when I said credit I was referring to $ credited to my account, not Audible credits. :-)

My brain is a bit frazzled tonight. Everyone else went home from the beach yesterday and I thought I'd be enjoying a bit of time to myself, but my baby in the user pic has been sick since they picked him up from boarding today and hubby is en route to the emergency vet as I type. :-(

Anyone have info on the Audible light plan (as I understand it, you pay $10 per year--no credits but you get member pricing). After looking though their website, I don't think they want people to know too much about it!
I'm wondering if you have to call them to start that--I can only find on their website how to cancel my membership (I have the 1 credit/month). And secondly, I have seen on here people talking about buying credits separately from a plan. Do they offer that very often?
I think I am listening to too many long books and I can't seem to catch up to my credits. I think if I could have the option 1-2 times per year to buy some credits that would be all I need.

The only way to get on the $10/yr plan is to cancel one of the normal plans. You can do it online. When you cancel they will offer to put your account on hold for 3 months or give you 3 months at $7.50/mo, if you decline both those offers they will offer you the $10/yr Listener Light plan. This plan lets you keep any credits you have already, and gives you access to most sales (if you have no credits you won't get the 3 for 2 sales). I have never had the opportunity to purchase credits in the 10 months I have been on the plan. I subsist on sales and kindle/whispersync deals .

This is from Audible's Conditions of Use page:

AudibleListener Light Plan. The AudibleListener Light Plan is available only on an annual basis and only to Gold and Platinum Members who want to downgrade their plan type. AudibleListener Light Plan members do not receive membership credits but a Gold or Platinum Member converting to the AudibleListener Light Plan may have AudibleListener Rollover Credits that they can rollover when they downgrade. Audible will charge members who downgrade to the AudibleListener Light Plan the yearly plan fee each year on the yearly renewal date.

Just an FYI - you don't need an Audible membership to get the Whispersync deals. The only requirement is an Amazon account.

Note that the audible website will offer the light plan when you cancel a free trial membership as well.

Thanks! I think when I hit 6 credits I will do that (I am at 4 right now). With as many unread (or unlistened to?) books as I have now, 6 credits should last a while! I just have to have a credit for the new Harry Dresden book when it comes out
