Dealing with Kindle ebooks in calibre

Don't know if it helps anyone but I have had some limited success with Kindle books when downloaded with the kindle for android specifically using the bluestacks method. To clarify, all the books would download including books published today 4/25/25 but approximately only 1 out of every 4 would actually transfer and convert in Calibre the rest are stuck as .prc files.
I'm back reading the other forums to see if there is a fix or if I missed something but figured I would mention it as there is always someone smarter and to give some hope to other book addicts.

This means you have no deDRM key or it's not the correct one.

K4PC 2.4.0 worked for me for an extra day. Then on April 24, it popped up the need to update message when I tried to download a book published that day. I then tried the two books I had downloaded on April 23 and were published on April 23, they now also popped up the need to update message.

K4PC 2.4.0 still works for books published before April 23, 2025 but since I've already imported all those to calibre, not much use to me anymore.

Just curious if you can go to your Manage Your Content page and Send the newly published book to K4PC: is there an option for K4PC, and if so, does it give you an error, etc.?

Thanks, I already updated the first post based on other reports kindly provided by Windows users. I was simply responding to Jon's suggestion that I should install Windows on my Mac when it serves me very little purpose and is primarily for the benefit of Windows users.

Yes, from the Manage Your Content page on amazon you can send the newly published books to K4PC there is no error until you open K4PC then you get the error:
Item not available for this device type.
Your Kindle app requires an update to view this content. Click here to download and install the free update (supported OS: Windows 10, Windows 8).

Totally possible. I was simply checking to see if I would get the same errors using the Bluestacks Kindle for Android method that we are with K4PC.

Atleast using Bluestacks the newly published books actually downloaded where K4PC wont. So maybe there is still some work around? I'm sorry, I am still pretty new at all this and I only mentioned it here because I only have the issue with the newly published books staying in .prc format.
I tired 20 different books published before 4/22/25 all downloaded added to calibre and coverted no issue.
I tried 20 books published on or after 4/23/25 all downloaded but only 1 in 4 could be added to calibre and converted.

For me, K4A on BlueStacks still works the same. I am using the autorelease of DeDRM if that matters. So far no errors when removing DRM.

Good night everybody.

I'm trying to quit the drm of a book I've recently bought on Amazon but everytime I import the book into Calibre it is a kfx-zip file and I'm not able to do it.

I'm running Calibre 7.13, K4PC 2.4.70904 and I've tried either DeDRM 10.0.9 and the alpha version. I've also installed the kfx plugin.

What should I try?

I just tried an older book published before the K4PC 2.4.0 cutoff so I could download it with K4PC 2.4.0 and the download worked and was importable to calibre.

Please note the K4PC 2.4.0 will not download books published after 2025-Apr-22 and Amazon may have snuck an update by you.

I am going to assume that by the KFX plugin, you mean the KFX input plugin.

But did it download .azw? You do not actually have to be able to open it with K4PC (I usually do not). If it is there perhaps you can just import it.

No, it doesn't download the file.

The BlueStacks K4A method works fine for me for books published after April 22, 2025. I receive KF8 (AZW3) + AZW6 (if available) without any problems. If you use an older E Ink device, the images will be black and white, so this is your last hope to get original quality files.
