Weaving a Life
and so time marches, into the unknown; whilst behind a past, intimately known remains truly, ones own. tempus fugit, dragging us along; leaving behind an after-burn, and a song that drifts on in its wake. look ahead, to the future; harken to the past, sutured only in a mirror of backward glances. on walkway of roads, a map yet to tread, walking on tendrils of a open thread, that weaves itself into a tapestry of life. |

time after time
[ This song ( 'Time after Time' by Cyndi Lauper ) keeps digging at me, to write something. I have written several poems with this as the background song. It is like several fiction stories I have read over the years. Of people who knew each other in previous lives, and they don't recognize each other.] I remember friends from long ago, I wonder, do they remember me ? Some I have fogotten their names, memories fade away, Oh, to remember the ones, who I had fun with. Driving over in that old junky car, for a milkshake, a burger, and fries. I looked on Google maps at the old town, no longer the way it was, new stores, even some of the sidewalks, have changed. But sometimes late at night, I'll dream of my best bud and I, driving over to the Dairy Queen, to see if anyone we know is there, but they are gone, some died in Viet Nam, most moved away, I still think of them, time after time, like ships missing each other, in the night and fog. Time after Time. [ exit ] The other songs that haunt at me are: the intro music to 'Ghost in the Shell' 1st gig Anime episodes and the end music for Dot hack//sign. These are well written. And they reach out and grab my attention. It took me hearing one of the Ghost in the Shell songs, those soft quiet bells. Soetikes, you have to listen to the soft and quiet bits of a song to get it. I'm not sure I get it at all. Last edited by Joebill; 10-23-2010 at 09:23 PM. Reason: typo |

Yup, typo, all fixed.
Thanks ! Rather more difficult to write and post than I first figured on. I didn't spell check nor read it over too much, I might have deleted it and not posted. Brings up some raw memories. |

Probably just as raw feelings as this one, about an air crew lost at sea. I was on the the Navy destroyer sent to look for survivors.

is it raining hard
on the hills the plain and the yard, do the flowers grow? those with petals and those that wash their way to the sea. are the gales blowing on the hills the plain and o'er the seas, do the millstones turn? those that grind the corn and those that weigh upon our necks so heavily. is it raining hard and are the gales blowing? |

This is an older work, that still buzzes around my head, dissatisfied. If it looks like it takes a small leaflet from Ozymandias, that's because Percy's poem is one of my favourites, and so it does (I've another, more directly copying some of that work, in a hopefully humourous fashion, somewhere around here).
