Butting in on your valid question to ask: what's the difference between the two? I just started looking into audio books this week (trip coming up). Are the non-whispersync books only available to download on a computer, rather than directly over the air onto my iphone -- or is there some other difference I'm not seeing?

Because of the thread topic, I assume gabby was actually asking about Whispersync for VOICE. That is, ones where you can get discounted Audible books that keep the same place as in the text.

That's correct Apk....

@badgoodDeb... from my understanding "WhisperSync for voice", is just an audiobook that is, on a kindle device/app, capable to keeping track of where you are in the book regardless of if you are listening to the audio version or reading the e-book version. Allowing you to switch between the two seamlessly, continuing from your last point.

As far as I know there is no search that will show which of your purchased ebooks are WfV ready, you'll have to look at each product page. You can easily check it the other way around (which I don't find very useful), your Audible audiobook library page has a 'Buy the Matching Ebook' link to the ebook if there is one enabled for WfV for audiobooks you've already purchased.

There is no difference in where you can download them. Whispersync for Voice enabled audiobooks act exactly like all the other Audible audiobooks, except they will also sync with the Amazon ebook if you own that as well as the audiobook and want to switch between reading and listening.
