Any of the google fonts like Open Sans or Noto Serif will have the font styles issue if you wanted to play with it. It's most noticeable when you select an extra bold serif font and the preview returns a sans-serif normal font.

Don't roll back. What you can do instead is install a portable version of the calibre 7 and use that with this plugin and the current version with everything else.
