"Rotating thunderstorm" north of us now but moving past. We're south of the metro area so maybe it will all slide past north of us.

We're in pretty good shape here. The storms are mostly north of me but they seem to have lost a lot of their punch. I'll probably stay the night here anyway but I think we are out of danger now.

Wow, I am watching news reports and the weather is/was crazy. 73 tornado reports so far! I'm glad to hear everyone is OK. I hear it is still severe alert, so I hope everyone stays safe.

Wow. I go to work for four hours and y'all have been battling crazy weather. Looks like crazy stuff heading for here. The storms at Louisville, KY and the storms south of Peoria look like they're going to merge and head north... for me. They're forecasting rain/thunderstorms all night but it's still too cold here for anything like what y'all had down South. Glad you and Betty are safe and sound, Dixie.

Waiting for it to move this way. Though looking at the radars, the big storm ya'll got is passing north west of me. We'll get the strong band thats over Georgia now and whatever develops on the edge of the front as it passes through.

Good morning everybody! The weather is calm and the birds are singing, even though it's not light outside yet! We had one more scare about 230 am when we were awakened by a new tornado warning. It never touched down though and that line of storms was the last hurrah. Stay safe, all of you to the east of me! I'm drinking a cup of coffee and then heading out to Stitches South, a big knitting convention that is in town this weekend.

Betty & DG - I think we are getting the remnants of your storm up here today. Heavy rain and high winds to 35 kph (20-25 mph?) - a breeze, by comparison. All day, and some tomorrow. Temperature about 6-7 C - 40+F.

And it was so nice just a couple of days ago!

Pholy and Astranger, y'all take care and don't turn your back on these storms. They are blazing fast and form in the blink of an eye. Keep us posted!

I slept late (8:00am!

). Now watching TV while drinking my coffee. The storm damages now in the light of a bright beautiful day are pretty sobering. Seven Alabamians are dead so far, another seven injured. The damages to properties and vehicles is still being counted. The Governor is declaring the state a disaster area, so that clears the way for FEMA to come in and help.

The tailgaters at all of the event venues seem to have been missed by the storms. That's the thing with tornadoes vs hurricanes is they are fast and bounce, so it is very random who they touch down on.

I feel very blessed to have been spared.

Glad to read that everyone is OK. Damp & gray & drizzly here this am. Bad stuff probably will roll in this afternoon. If it gets sunny & hot we'll get slammed. But if it stays gray & overcast & coolish, we might squeak through without too many fireworks.

same here as soon as i get home from the office. the Lady and i are going to grab some groceries on the way home and hunker down. we dont have any cable or satellite TV anymore, so i'll likely be keeping watch on my droid for alerts, etc.

Good you and your mom are safe. So I gather April isn't the best month to visit the South of the USA? Enjoy your knitting convention. I used to knit quiet a lot when I was young and had to do night shifts; also embroidery--once I embroided a wine-cart of France with all the names in it, a portrait of Marianne (national girl) and a bunch of grapes and of course a tricolore.
