Thanks, I will. Fridays are hard for me, I usually can't focus long enough to get any of the serious work done. So I usually save administrative and 'dumb' jobs (like taking photocopies) for friday.

As I hold you in great esteem as well.

Haruki Murakami is a fantastic writer, I've read all of the books of his that I could get my hands on. I would perhaps start with Norwegian Wood - it's different from his other works, but perhaps the most accessible. Also try "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle" and for short stories, "The Elephant Vanishes" (L'elefante scomparso e altri racconti). I hope you enjoy them!

Yep, lots of cobblestones in Ghent too. Once I got stuck in between two stones with one heel, I nearly fell and twisted my foot so hard I couldn't go running for 2 weeks.

Depends on the kind of snow. Fresh snow isn't so bad, because it's not slippery. But ice ... I have trouble staying upright in any kind of shoes on ice. In the winter I usually wear flat shoes and take a pair of heels with me. So when I arrive at work, I change footwear

My knees are already shot, heels would only make the problem worse. I wore a nice wedge on my wedding day. 2 inches of extra height but a nice stable base.

No trains or buses in my future. I drive to work every day, it is about 15 minutes so not too bad.

hmmm yet another new author to add to my read list.

Two more pu-erhs from NBT turned out just like their brothers... Not something I'll order again. I've now tasted 8 from the sample pack and found only one that was worth finishing the cup. Not worth ordering but worth finishing. Two left to try.

But it's Friday night, and a good time for a glass of Bombay Sapphire before bed.

I have a congenital malformation in my back, so I used to suffer from backpain a lot. Heels actually help me walk properly, so my back hurts a lot less these days.

You're so lucky. I used to work in Ghent, I could just bike to work. Took me about 15 minutes. Now I spend 3 hours on trams, trains and busses every day ...

I am hoping to be able to bike to work a couple times a week starting in the spring. I was planning on trying last year but we adopted a puppy and I needed to go home at lunch time to let her out. Then I had some problems with my acheilles tendon then some knee issues then it got cold.

Since the current puppy will be old enough to chill at the house without making a mess come spring time, I should be able to bike to work.

Cooper has figured out how to get the zip ties on his crate off. He is a very resourceful dog. We are going to move his nuetering surgery up by a month so we can let him out of his crate sooner then expected. He isn't suppose to move around a lot for 7 days after surgery, yeah right, so we think it best that he stay in his crate where he cannot run and jump and potentially pull stiches while recovering. We are working on a solution that lets him stay in the hallway, nothing he can eat and destroy, instead of the crate. The problem is the dog is just to freaking smart. He knows how to move our current gate so we have to rig something else. In the last couple of days he has decided that he likes to eat pillow cases so keeping him in one of the guest bedrooms is out. We know he likes removing the stuffing from balls, stuffed pigs, stuffed bones, stuffed anything. This means that couches are not safe.

(sigh)

But he is really cute and gives the best puppy kisses and plays a mean game of fetch.
