BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE by Dee Brown Spoiler: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee chronicles four hundred years of the events that take place between the white settlers and the Native American tribes with the main focus on the late 1800s. Although the coexistence was at first amiable, the strain increased as more and more whites began to take over land. Dee Brown covers many of the historical events that took place as whites began to run Native Americans off of their lands and eventually relegate them to reservations. Many tribes, such as the Apache, Cheyenne, Navajo, and Sioux are prominent in Brown's book. The deaths of many of the Indian chiefs, as well as the massacre at Wounded Knee are also discussed.
