Cloudy morning... a bit chilly. Hot mug of keemun (no name) to get me started. In fact, it's going to be a triple mug for breakfast as I have to go clear over to the other side of Osaka today. Not much chance for drinking good tea so I'll do it now. On the other hand, I'll be in a shopping area that I've never seen before so perhaps I'll get lucky and find some new tea gold mine!

Probably didn't miss anything. This is a problem common to straight (not blended) teas. They often vary in taste from one batch to the next. This is especially true of the newer tea purveyors as they often buy from different estates. The older houses tend to only buy from their old established tea gardens, but still can be a slightly different taste from crop to crop. But Blends insure that you will always have exactly the same flavor, and is one of the reasons why I like them.

LOL! I'm almost as excited about the trip as he is, and I don't even get to go! Just thinking about having access to all those teas makes me giddy. There is a 'Mariage Freres' shop on Kyoto's equivalent to '5th Ave' but the prices are right up there with Armani, Gucci, and Rolex. They keep their teas in small old fashion milk cans, and the walls of the tea room must have 100 or more different teas. But the prices are so ridiculous here that I never have the urge to even go in any more. I'm not about to spend $75 for the same tea that I can get for $20, especially for a tasting test. (They don't sell samples...) I could go into their tea room for a cup, but even that runs about $10... although it does include a cookie.

If I were let loose in Fortnum & Mason, or in any of the other Tea emporiums of London, I wind up spending the rent money. Fortunately my kid is already out of college or I'd spend his school money too!

Yeah, Astra trip is the event. Let's see. London is also a swell place, not only for tea stuff. I hope he remembers to be nice to his better 13/17.

I had a customer ask me where he could get Ahmad tea tonight. Unfortunately, we don't carry it and I had to tell him to look online.

There is an import shop on B2 underneath Umeda Station in Osaka that carries it... if that helps.

When we were younger we used to go to London near Christmas: stay in the same hotel on the Strand, walks to Trafalquar Square to see the Christmas Tree and visit all the shops Buying beautiful Irish glassware at Harrods). High tea. Lovely. Must be doing that again. We went to 'The Phantom of the Opera' some 8 years ago.Lovely.

I'm jealous too, but mostly because he's enjoying a 4 day weekend and I'm stuck at the office. Ah well, two more days and then it's weekend again!

I had a great morning so far. This guy I've know for a while (who takes the same train) was talking to me on the train this morning, and the cute guy that I've had my eye on for a while was listening very intently to our conversation and smiling at me

. Too bad he didn't join in. Maybe I should go talk to him sometime soon

Although he looks 'alpha' and I swore I wouldn't go there anymore after the last disaster.

I'll think about it some more over a cup of pure peppermint.
