I will have to give those a try. In previous years, the moths have contented themselves laying their eggs on things I didn't care about (usually presents from well-meaning relatives that I hadn't really got the heart to get rid of - the presents, that is, not the relatives...). This year, they seem to have launched an all out attack on stuff I like. The yeti's winter coat suffered badly too.

Aww, thanks. Your consideration of Marc's dislike for restrictive audience limitations based on arbitrary and subjective adjectival and nounal definitions is Christmas present enough for him, RSE. The story is definitely the custard on the pudding though.

Yours channeling genuine appreciation,

i hope it works for you. i see plenty of moths flying around here, but so far my many woolen garments have remained intact, and i tend to attribute that to my copious use of cedar blocks in every drawer, shelf and box (and on the coathangers too).

And may you be given a dozen Blue Blazers (the drink, of course) for a cold day, Adrian.

I plan on working on it once the Corpus trip is over and releasing it on Christmas Eve afternoon, for all the good boys and girls (and you too, Marc) as a special Christmas present to the gang (or Winter Solstice, or pick you holiday...). You'll be in it, and Queen Z, and BadGoodDeb, and Mindy, and Patricia will make a Cameo, and...

The title will be A Whiter Shade of Red
Is it time yet?

I'm getting ready..

i've just got done "doing-it-myself". my bathroom door sticks a bit because the building has shifted (i presume) and today the handle broke off when i was pushing it open. not being very well versed in these things i went to the hardware store thinking i could just buy a new handle, but it turns out you have to buy a complete kit, and naturally there are all sorts of sizes with difference spaces between the holes (to make things even simpler). since i hadn't measured i just bought the only model they had with a built-in turn lock and hoped for the best. it wasn't *quite* the perfect fit, and also apparently the two pieces i got aren't quite identical but since they're made out of plastic with a little determination i managed to get it attached to the door and the handle and lock lined up fine. i could only get one screw in, the bottom holes were a few millimeters off, but as far as i'm concerned that's good enough. then i fixed the shower holder thingy too ; the screw holding the bottom of the bar was coming loose so i pried out the plastic... cheville (no idea what you call those : little plastic things you put in the wall to make the screws bite in better) and put a new one in. the bar itself seems still a bit loose between the two ends but there's nothing i can do about that. so i'm calling that good enough as well. seems like a good days' work to me.

Hey wow!! I'm very impressed! Could you just come over to my place and fix my dropping tap? Oh, and I need a do-it-yourself pro for painting the kitchen and bathroom walls (I hate painting!) and the kids want a pink (!!) book shelf, please. I want tiles in the basement and you could cut one or two old spruces in the garden ... Thank you!

That's easy, you just pretend that real life is the internet. Go around with a large cardboard frame around your face, poking (double-clicking) everyone you want to talk to. TV stands in for Youtube. The cinema is technically download piracy. Bars are social networking sites (bring a little piece of paper with all your information written on it) and dating services are... uh... dating services.

If all else fails, pretend your playing a huge and very immersive Multiplayer-Online Game.
Of course, this can backfire. Just remember, in real life it isn't okay to kill the NPCs. Also, while it's perfectly acceptable to go around approving or disapproving of complete strangers online, strangers on the street are less likely to be receptive if you spontaneously walk up to them and say: "You look funny," "LOL You need more doughnuts," or, most especially, "I love you."
