550 Recipes in this Fix-It and Forget-It Slow Cooker Cookbook. And Only $1.99!

That comes out to about four recipes per penny.

I don't like slow cookers, and I don't even do much cooking now. So why am I posting this slow cooker cookbook? Because it looks like a good one, by almost any metric that you want to use. And I know that a lot of you like to use the slow cooker. And because I like you guys.

I was a little concerned about the ratings at Amazon. Even though the average is great, there are a very slightly higher number of "1's" than I would have expected. All fears were allayed, however, when I checked the ratings details at GoodReads (4.06 (33))--there were zero "1's" there.

Another, more salient concern, from reading the book description, is the fact that there are only 16 pages of full-color photographs. But, really now, doesn't a slow cooker cooking goulash look a whole lot like a slow cooker cooking fish stew?

Fix-It and Forget-It Slow Cooker Magic: 550 Amazing Everyday Recipes. By Phyllis Good. Rated 4.4 stars, from 71 reviews at Amazon at the present moment. Print list price $17.99; $17.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Good Books, publisher. 296 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Fix-Forget-Sl.../dp/B013CS9RIC.

Book Description

The newest addition to the New York Times bestselling Fix-It and Forget-It series!

The beloved Fix-It and Forget-It series has sold nearly 11 million copies, giving home cooks around the world exactly what they crave—recipes for delicious, satisfying meals that anyone can make with simple ingredients and minimal preparation time. Who doesn’t love being able to serve their family a wholesome dinner (and dessert!) without spending hours in the kitchen—or a fortune on groceries? Now,
New York Times bestselling author Phyllis Good presents a collection that gives cooks even more!

Featuring 650 new, mouthwatering recipes, cooks will be amazed at the “magic” their slow cookers can perform. In addition to delicious soups, stews, and chilis, cooks will also find pizza, cheesecake, bar cookies, quick breads, and dozens of other surprising treats!

There are reasons why the Fix-It and Forget-It series is so popular, and this latest book is no exception.

Each page is packed with easy-to-follow, carefully tested recipes.

No one has enough time these days—with a slow cooker, anyone can prepare a fantastic meal in minutes!
The recipes use ingredients most people already have in their cupboards—no searching high and low for exotic foods that will break the bank.

With 16 pages of full-color photographs and a price that’s tough to beat, this is destined to become a staple on home cooks’ shelves everywhere.

Skyhorse Publishing, along with our Good Books and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of cookbooks, including books on juicing, grilling, baking, frying, home brewing and winemaking, slow cookers, and cast iron cooking. We’ve been successful with books on gluten-free cooking, vegetarian and vegan cooking, paleo, raw foods, and more. Our list includes French cooking, Swedish cooking, Austrian and German cooking, Cajun cooking, as well as books on jerky, canning and preserving, peanut butter, meatballs, oil and vinegar, bone broth, and more. While not every title we publish becomes a
New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

I didn't notice the copyright date to realize how old (relatively-speaking) the book was.

Sequel to NY Times' Bestselling Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook--Rare Low Price.

This is not my thang when it comes to cookbooks. But I'm not working for myself, I'm working for you guys--fellow MobileReaders. I'm sure that many of you will be glad to know about this one.

Here are a couple of great reasons to buy this ebook now: 1) It has had only minor markdowns since late 2014 (the farthest that I could go back). The markdown now is by far the largest since then, 2) the ratings are stratospheric--both at Amazon (4.8 stars) and GoodReads (4.21 (182)).

Back in the Day Bakery Made with Love: More than 100 Recipes and Make-It-Yourself Projects to Create and Share. By Cheryl Day; Griffith Day. Rated 4.8 stars, from 115 reviews at the present moment at Amazon. Print list price $24.95; digital list price $9.99; Kindle price now $2.99. Artisan, publisher. 312 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Back-Bakery-M.../dp/B00N2A6HL6.

Book Description
Cheryl and Griffith Day, authors of the New York Times bestselling Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook, are back with more recipes to make with love. Who needs store-bought when baking things at home is so gratifying? In this follow-up to their smash-hit first book, the Days share ways to lovingly craft not only desserts, but also breakfast pastries, breads, pizza, and condiments. The book features more than 100 new recipes, including some of the bakery’s most requested treats, such as Star Brownies and the Cakette Party Cake, as well as savories like Chive Parmigiano-Reggiano Popovers and Rosemary Focaccia. Cheryl and Griff share their baking techniques and also show readers how to put together whimsical decorations, like a marshmallow chandelier and a best-in-show banner. With pure delight woven throughout the pages, Back in the Day Bakery Made with Love is sure to please Cheryl and Griff’s fans nationwide.

$1.99! Amelia Freer's 336-Page Companion to Her Int'l Bestseller Eat, Nourish, Glow.

This is another thread that is languishing. As far as my part in that is concerned, I just haven't seen many good cookbooks radically marked down, lately. This is one, however.

The average rating (3.9 stars) at Amazon is a little weak, by my standards. But, there are only 13 reviews--hardly enough to get valid figures. Consider GoodReads this time--there are 3 or 4 different editions, with a total of about 125 ratings. The average rating is about 4.15--very good for GoodReads! It is also a #1 seller in three categories at the Kindle Store and at Amazon's regular books department.

For those who don't like to operate a calculator, the $1.99 price now is 85% less than the digital list price! Or, to put it another way, you pay only 15% of what you would pay if you paid the digital list price.

Cook. Nourish. Glow.: 120 Recipes That Will Help You Lose Weight, Look Younger, and Feel Healthier. Print list price $29.99; digital list price $12.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Harper Wave, publisher. 336 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Cook-Nourish-.../dp/B015WXSMNG.

Book Description
The eagerly anticipated companion to the #1 international bestseller Eat. Nourish. Glow., filled with fabulous recipes for making a whole-foods based lifestyle easy and delicious.

In her international bestseller
Eat. Nourish. Glow., celebrity nutritionist Amelia Freer introduced her whole-foods philosophy and provided ten easy steps to help you look younger, lose weight, and feel great. In Cook. Nourish. Glow. she builds on the handful of recipes in her previous book, offering 100 wholesome dishes and meals illustrated with beautiful photos and step-by-step visuals.

Amelia’s simple but delicious recipes and tips make living a healthy lifestyle effortless. From preparing and using wholesome pantry staples to whipping together on the go meals and snacks; cooking gut-friendly foods to baking a few “naughty” treats, Amelia equips you with the skills and knowledge you need to cook with confidence and improve your health with every bite.

My Southern Food: A Celebration of the Flavors of the South by Devon O'Day

Immerse yourself in Southern culture with a collection of signature favorites! With more than 200 recipes, this cookbook will help you whip up easy casseroles and delicious cobblers in no time.

I haven't examined this cookbook published by an imprint of HarperCollins, but it's on sale for 99 cents at Amazon, B&N, Google and Kobo.

All ten reviews at Amazon are 5 stars, but the reviews are around 4.0 at goodreads.

Seriously Bitter Sweet $ 1.99 today

These days, people are accustomed to seeing chocolate labeled 54%, 61%, or 72% on grocery store shelves, but some bakers are still confused by what the labeling means and how to use it. In Seriously Bitter Sweet, Alice Medrich presents 150 meticulously tested, seriously delicious recipes—both savory and sweet—for a wide range of percentage chocolates. “Chocolate notes” appear alongside, so readers can further adapt any recipe using the percentage chocolate on hand. The book is a complete revision of Alice’s 2003 Bittersweet, which was named the 2004 IACP Cookbook of the Year. Since 2003, the world of chocolate has grown exponentially and terms like “bittersweet” and “semisweet” no longer suffice as chocolatiers everywhere are making chocolates that are labeled with specific percentages of cocoa.Alice clearly outlines the qualities of different chocolates as she explains how to cook with them. With tricks, techniques, and answers to every chocolate question, Seriously Bitter Sweet will appeal to a whole new audience of chocolate lovers

B&N Google Kobo

It's also supposed to be $1.99 at Amazon also, but the price there is currently $9.99.
