![]() The thread has long since devolved into people mentioning anything to do with Chromebooks, discussion of Chromebook stats, "which one do you want", etc. What is this "on topic" you speak of? People keep using that term. I do not think the term means, um, anything, on an internet forum.

I've also seen situations in which customers were asked to leave for lingering at tables for too long. In the past, that would have been done regularly. These years, niche places have to fret over nasty Yelp reviews, too many of which can help to close them down. |

Running a business is tough. My wife had one and decided to just give "everyone" old, young, groups, etc. a 10% discount and just factored it into the prices. She didn't advertise it and when people asked for a discount, she said "you will get it at the register." Everyone was happy. |

My mom was like that too. Some lady even managed to steal $100 worth of coupons from her and proceeded to use them herself instead of the event she was meant to pass them out at. You have to encourage Yelp reviews. I think that's the big problem with that site in general. People go on about the negatives, and make it seem like an end of the world experience. And then that happens to be the only one, or the spotlight post in a list of five. It's one of the reasons why I help my favorite developers on the Amazon Appstore, because they absolutely need to have as many positive voices as they can get. People don't understand permissions, and they don't understand WHY developers use them, and they falsely interpret that they are for stealing and selling your info, when it's just a way for a developer to figure out how you interact with their apps, and if they can make it better. It is perfectly acceptable to kick someone out for using your wifi if they're there on your dime. And it is perfectly acceptable to call the police if they refuse to leave. I would not let someone get away with running their business at my business. |

My wife caught this "nice little old lady" taking a sticky price tag from a cheaper item and placing it on a more expensive item. She noticed the tag, and checked the price and found it was $30 more. The "nice little old lady" said "I can't pay that much." My wife was devastated for she had considered this person as a good customer and had had conversations with her.

I've noticed that cheap hotels tend to have free WiFi, while more expensive hotels tend to charge for it. It's probably because business travelers go to the more expensive hotels and their employers pay for the WiFi.
Someday, I could see network access being free everywhere. Maybe not fast enough for video, but fast enough for routine use of the web. |
