For quite awhile now, Audible has been using books from the Audible Plus Catalog for the Daily Deal. Books from that catalog are rental only. If you want to own the book, you must buy it.

That catalog is only available for free listening as long as you have either a Premium Plus membership ($14.95/mo) or an Audible Plus membership ($7.95/mo). If you cancel your membership, you lose access to those books.

I looked at this when it was on sale and it was in the $4 range (as is today's selection)... definitely not free. I decided not to get it.

Nope. I am a premium plus member and this book (Dolly Parton, Songteller) is not free to listen. In fact, it is not part of the "plus" catalogue.
