Just found an updated version from sergkv12 on 4pda. Especially I like the return of the fuzzy search (using morphems) in the dictionary. Here is the changelog (googletranslated):

Fixed skin, quote toolbar, CR executable. Who cares, you can download.
1. Added option to select pb740fw5.cr3skin (the correct main menu is displayed)
2. Increased size:
- font in the menu,
- battery indicator
- font for displaying the number of pages in the dialog
- buttons go to the page in the menu
3. Replaced buttons:
- go to the pages in the menu
- toolbar quotes
4. Changed the toolbar of quotes (the logic of the work remains the same)
- all toolbar buttons process touchscreen commands
- added Up, Down buttons to the toolbar
Button Assignment:
Leftmost V - save the quote, rightmost X - close the window without saving the quote
Buttons A, A + -, C + - buttons selectors of actions (when tap on the buttons Up, Down)
The Up, Down buttons are the same as the physical buttons to the right, left.
The logic of working in CR with quotes is something like this:
When quotes are highlighted, the paragraph is highlighted, ~ the third up from the current one.
If the current paragraph is large and does not fit on the page, then the paragraph that will be underlined will not be visible (higher in the text). Therefore, tap on the button down to select the desired paragraph. Next, add a paragraph by highlighting the buttons A +, C + or delete unnecessary sentences C- (paragraphs A-). When A-, C- are selected, tap in the direction of the arrow will delete the paragraph / sentence from below, tap in the down arrow will delete the paragraph / sentence at the top of the current selection (if this is not the last paragraph / sentence). When you select the bottom / top sentence or paragraph on a page, the selection will be carried out on the next / previous page. You can select and save several pages. Direct speech is highlighted in full and individual sentences cannot be deleted from it.
5. In the dictionary:
- search by exact word match is disabled
- increased the number of lines in the list with the meaning of words.
6. keymaps.ini Fixed key codes for quotes. The right button (next page) selects the next paragraph.

Overwrite the entire system folder to the device. The skin is copied, keymaps.ini and cr3-pb.app.
In CR3 settings "Display Settings -> Interface Style", select the pb740fw5.cr3skin skin.

Information about the book is displayed in the same finely, take advantage of the device library.
How to change the font in the Book Information window. In the file /system/config/cr3/cr3.ini set the value of the parameter cr3.file.props.font.size = 60

CR3 with all the changes in one archive from my book. Copy the system folder to the device’s memory. (For the profile, in the system settings of the book default.) Font, tap zone commands, etc. configure for yourself in the CR config.
If the book in the library is not opened by CR, you need to hold it on the book for a long time, call the context menu and select "Open with -> Cool Reader". CR will open books by default. Perhaps those who copy the archive also need to do this for the first time so that CR opens the books.

Hi,

I'm trying CR on my Pocketbook Touch HD 3, and found that with all epub books I try, the first paragraph for a chapter, the font is small...? It looks tiny compared to the other regular paragraphs...

Is there an option I am missing somewhere? Feels like I tried every one of them

What books you tried? All from the same source and do they have constantly some special css for the first <p> of each chapter, e.g. for some presentational effect like dropcaps or capitalized first word? I'd suspect so, and CR might not be rendering the trickery as expected. In that case, edit the epub and correct...
Or maybe you can change the default css to account for it (never really tried). Look in /ext1/system/share/cr3/

There is a setting for this. Can't remember where to find though.

Edit: Try my settings (after backuping yours), though I have a very individual touchzone settings.

diffing your cr3.ini with mine, apart of trivial "just preference" differences, I see that yours have a line

styles.def.text-decoration=

more than mine. Maybe that does it? I don't remember to have ever run in the OP problem though.

I installed this version on my InkPad 3. It had some nice advantages over the last version from blchinezu's CoolReader. But recently it crashed with a segmentation error with two books which work fine with blchinezu's version.

I did everything said in installation section of readme on pocketbook 740 pro and still not able to choose coolreader as an main app. I tried all variants (2, 4, 5), don't really know which firmware is used on my device. I also edited extensions.cfg and set cr3 to be the first, no luck

1) Content of extensions.cfg
2) Download source of Coolreader.
3) Exact installation path of Coolreader.
3) Firmware number.
4) Multiple profiles on the Pocketbook?
5) What does not work exactly, how do you try to open a book with Coolreader.
