Here ya go, might need a bit of work. But it is hot off the synapses. Just for here.
lyrics ? Hmmm... poem: A song, a dance Sometimes I sleep, and dream, from there, some poems show up, from time to time, but don't ask me to dance, it doesn't look very good. I have woken up, after a bad dream, and heard a Muse, "Hey ! I got a poem for ya !" But I delay, I don't want to join, the mental fray of writing, I have to get up, early in the morning. ya ever see a Muse, tapping her foot and looking angry ? I have, 'tis not a pleasant sight. I beg, "Please, can we wait, I don't wanna be late, for woooork ..." Then she stomps off, the field of vision, but the Ghost of Procrastination, won't let me be, at least I have no fleas ! But what I really want to do, is dance across the face of the Earth's Moon, or maybe even Mars ! Here a step, there a jump, a bounce, across the surface of the Moon ! Tap the foot, of my spacesuit, in a bit of dust, and jump for joy ! I would like to walk along the floor, of a Lunar crater, or along the edge, of the line, between sunlight and dark, it won't be a lark in a park, back on Earth, but I can deal with that, as I dance across, the face of the Moon ! a bit early for Christmas, I wrote this in 2004, where in a Muse and I work on a poem. The poem below.
Holiday Card, 2004 I've had a hard time coming up with something to write this year. For this, then that idea... So I came up with something else. Well... it took a bit of working on it. Evidently my Muse was helping with the sugar plums and toys dancing in various dreams, so I took a drive to get something to eat. Muse showed up and had a sit in the car passenger seat. After all I had suggested it, take a few minutes break, relax, put her feet up on the dashboard, snooze for a few, then go out and help with a few more dreams. She seems to flicker now and again, must be off to take care of some dreams. I drove awhile longer and started thinking about the holidays. hmm, better get this out of the way... [ Copyright by Jim M. Pierce, 2004-2010. All Rights Reserved. ] My first Christmas eve and day off in 5 years. So I decided to relax a bit, well, some part of me is still driving off to eat supper at a restaurant. Anyway. I wondered what the B-Movie monsters were up to. Hadn't heard much from them recently. So I wandered off to the B-Movie Monster Coffee Shoppe. What ?! You never heard of it ? Well, it does exist, but I don't know exactly where it is. The Muse and I found it though. Lets park here. Go on, go ahead and I'll... okay, I'll go in alone. Its okay, they are on holiday break. So, I saunter in, wearing my fedora and trench coat. Jeans, brightly colored beach shirt, and a pair of boots. Gorgonzola, she is the head waitress, ignores me. It gets quiet. I say, "I'm just here for the coffee, no autographs..." conversation resumes. The Thing, just in from an expo in the Antarctic, glowers at me. I ignore it. Thats not the Addam's Family Thing, its the other Thing. Place looks kinda gloomy. Yeah, I see it now that my eyes have adjusted to the dark. Buncha monsters, all frowning and crying in their coffee, or what ever it is they are drinking. A few Christmas decorations. No stockings hung by the fireplace with care though. The waitress, you remember her ? Gorgonzola by name, says 'We aint got no coffee for humans in here ! Buzz off !" I reply, "I'm not doing anything but relaxing. I'll go in a few minutes, just wanted a relief from the holidays." You coulda heard a cricket chirp a trillion miles away. "What ?" Gorgonzola got real sad and said, "Honey, Santa don't stop here." I was dumb founded. I mean, really ! "But uh..." "No, he don't stop here. You think all of us don't know we are never gonna get any presents ? We are the monsters of moviedom." "damn... Wait, I'll be back in a few minutes." So, I go back outside, hmm. certainly got cold all of a sudden. Windy to. Cannot hardly get the flying carpet out of the trunk. I manage it anyway. So, how to catch Santa on the one night he is busy ? Well, I'm not gonna tell ya how. But I manage it. Windy here abouts for some reason. I try to talk to him, but he pointedly looks at me then away and never looks at me again. So, I go to a toy store. Buy some gifts, get them wrapped. I have to make a coupla trips. Carpet wasn't designed to carry that much. I bought a Santa hat. Gave presents out to the monsters. A small miniature village for a certain giant lizard, an Antarctic adventure set for the Thing, a tall building toy to a certain big ape, and so on. I put up a small tree. Decorated it. Handed out the presents. It all of a sudden got real quiet in the B-Movie Monster Coffee Shoppe. Santa was there watching me. I handed him a newspaper, pointed to the photos of the damage done to various places. And asked, "You see any of these folks in those photos ? I don't." And I continued handing out gifts. He left. But I did notice some gifts I hadn't bought being looked at and played with by the B-Movie Monsters. And there was a plate of cookies and milk on the counter, with my name on it. I nodded and said, kinda choked up, "thanks." Gorgonzola smiled. A few of the monsters, well, the ones that could speak words, said thanks. I went out to the car. Muse wasn't there. Left me a note. "seems you didn't need my help after all." Well, maybe one of her sisters helped me. I don't have any wonderous words or anything, so I'll just say "A happy holiday, and a good night !" [exeunt] |

That first one, may need a few tweeks, but it could be my story too - and not only with poetry.
The second one makes a nice flowing story ! Well done for them both and thanks for posting..... [i'll pass along some "k" when the karma-fairy allows] |

I agree, great start on that first one and as Geoff says, it captures what many creatives go through....
Some tweaking and refinement and you've got something I think. |

The first one, I was trying to recapture a mood, and a poem, I had written some times ago. I couldn't find it in my archives. And being tired, I couldn't quite grab the mood I wanted.
I'll think it over, and try to work on it in the near future. |

bringing the thread back to some sort of life
![]() In the Shadows of the Night in the lazy hours at still of night as moonbeams bounce amongst the motes of dust come things unseen. they feed upon those dreams as full they are of nought but love and hope of wishful pleasures and riches that remain untold of sounds and tastes and wandering thoughts of wanton lust. they creep through shadows hidden well within the mask of night amidst the corners in the gloom and dank to send their waving tendrils forth to feel. and slow to inveigle themselves they loom to lurk within those dizzy moods when the pleasure bears intense enough to miss the hazy fingertips of beings dark and full of impish deeds that step with dainty toes o'er pillows where you lay your head and dangle wisps that trail across the nakedness that 'scapes from safety of your bed. as darkness pervades in each and every step they take they slake their thirsts 'pon those unbridled flights of fantasy that flash and take their hold upon your mind and turn those brazen thoughts to those of mares that once unleashed do ride headlong through the wildernesses of the night. and charged they did and took control of inner sights. so changed those less than sav'ry beasts that now patrol upon your night and fight your feeble 'tempts to steer a way back to where the awe comes through among lonely sandy shores where the lap of ocean waves caress and drench upon thine skin entwined be you and your's a cooling balm to heatened flesh. then switch at sudden jolt abashed at nakedness you find a test you forgot was due that task you left undone or could not do for all the hours of work you paid. and then in strolled the leering clown that scarred your younger years and drove the knife so plainly through your tears awakened fears you thought well locked away. you tossed and turned a silent scream within a sexy purr at lost control. you woke to bleary eyes that stuck with tears and sleepy dust alarum rang a welcome call the visions banished but for a while a dream? a mare of night ? you looked around as call rang on. the visits of the night were clear a fight 'tween cats, had spilled a drink. your dreamful writhings, your sheets in knots. on exposed arm and leg, a web from spiders cased a pair of fingers another on your toes and one from eyelash to ear. that clock, you knew the face was strange. that new Marc poster on the wall, of horses. you turned your head and looked across the lonely 'spanse of bed but close at hand on pillow bare; a daddy-long-legs lay but torn to shreds, and cheeky mouse was sat cleaning whiskers by your nose ! 9 Oct 2010 |
