Indeed! I took 3 aspirin, had a bowl of Vcat's soup (see post 122 here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53902), gave the doggie a belly rub, and then curled up with my teddy bear (seriously) and took a nap. My headache is gone and I'm feeling amazingly better. How I wish they had nap time at work like we had during kindergarten.

I just lay on my back, on the office floor, for a ten minute relax break. Everybody else takes smoke breaks, so I can take a back-stretch break. Not long enough to actually go to sleep, though, nor to cure a headache.

When the Sept book of the month turned out NOT to be Dorothy Sayer's "Murder Must Advertise" I went back and re-read it anyway. It had been too long, and her stuff is great!

Anyway, this description of the hero (the Office Pet) reminds me of Marc:
"Oh, the Pet's tongue runs on ball-bearings"

And this paragraph just begs me to ask: what on earth did a googly *used* to be? I know what we use it for around here!!
Quote:
"Hullo!" said Miss Meteyard one morning. She had dropped in to
consult Bredon about googlies‚ the proprietors of Tomboy Toffee having
embarked upon a series of cricket advertisements which, starting respectively
from "Lumme, what a Lob!" or "Yah! that's a Yorker!" led up by
devious routes to the merits of Toffee; and had now reached the point
when "Gosh! it's a Googly" had to be tackled. Bredon had demonstrated
googlies with pencil and paper, and also in the corridor with a small round
tin of Good Judge tobacco (whereby he had nearly caught Mr. Armstrong on
the side of the head), and had further discussed the relative merits of
"Gosh" and "Golly" in the headline; .....

Cricket. It's a type of bowling delivery, where the ball behaves unpredictably.

A googly is a type of ball bowled in cricket by a right-arm, leg-spin bowler which breaks from leg-side to off-side as opposed to the normal off to leg for a right-arm, leg-spin bowler.

Simple really!

Great googly moogly!

Quote:
Utterance of great surprise. Common in blues songs, made more popular by Frank Zappa in the song "Nanook Rubs It" from Apostrophe in 1974.
