Young man's fantasy.

Blueberries are a fruit frequently found in northern countries during a short period of summer. The wild are smaller but much more flavorful than the giant cultivated varieties.

Blueberries are delicious just on their own with nothing added!

My mom used to give us frozen blueberries with a drizzle of honey and milk. They were especially good on a hot summer day or in the middle of winter when fresh summer blueberries were but a dream.

I found out what blueberries are. We don't have them. We do have redcurrant and gooseberries (beside the grapes, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries)

And the strawberries are looking awesome! Now hope the slugs don't get at them first...

Blueberries are also very tasty with a dollop of plain yogurt. (I think we need a "yum!" smiley.)

I'm with Curly here; I remember, as a child, when camping and walking in the Scottish mountains with my dad, eating fresh blueberries (or blayberries, as he called them) picked fresh from the bushes on the hillside, washed down with water from the nearest burn. Ambrosia!

Here in the IceBox, eating wild blueberries can be fatal.

Bears seem to like them and are very territorial.

But it's one of the top ways to die, I suppose...

I remember one day in Switzerland...

We were biking down the river Rhine (national biking route nr 2), and we were on our last leg to Basel. We were biking alongside an elevated railway track. The whole side of that elevation (which was about 2m above the biking path) was covered with blackberry bushes. It was at the hight of the blackberry crop so, most were already gone. But, we were overtaken by a "mowing" machine. It didn't mow any grass, but cropped those blackberry bushes back. And all those blackberries that couldn't be reached earlier (because of the thorns) were all exposed! We took our pans (we've a nice camping set) and filled one to the brim with blackberries (and ate even more ) It was awesome!
