Actually, i think the correct way to bend ulka would be ulking. But yeah, we do seem to manage some pretty step turns as far as content goes around here.

Right now, I'm having an awkward conversation with Hugo and Lefty. I caught them at the computer, browsing the internet. Hugo doesn't seem to be able to perceive images on TV or the computer. He likes the pretty little red, blue, and green lights, though. Lefty, however, found a video of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I'm stuck trying to explain that, no, that's not in fact how smart socks are made.

Testing a concoction I created -- this is the second night -- it worked fairly well last night (I wasn't hungry and I didn't get sick).

So ... here's hoping that another day or two and my intestines will be all better.

Just ordered a Livescribe pen and books. Going to pick up my new tablet PC later today. Ordered a new scanner that might actually work with Vista. Ordered a printer so that my wife can make the humongo photo prints she wants to do.

Feeling poor, in other words.

What recession was that you were talking about?

Keep shopping like that and the recession will be over next week. In case your wife didn't mention, she'll probably need some printer cartridges, photo paper, picture frames, photo albums, a new camera...

Details m'boy. What tablet? What scanner? What printer? What camera does your much, much better half use? What type of photography? Us photog's can be an obsessive mob and we need details. I just named my newest camera, won on evilBay, "Fizzgig".

I, myself, am currently still in bed at 9:45am watching the start of Bathurst. If you're not from Oz and don't know what Bathurst is, it's traditionally Oz's premier car race. If you are from Australia and don't know what Bathurst is, for shame!.

Cheers,
Marc

I just got a ScanSnap (ordered it at the Bar Assn Meeting). So far I love it.

It is not a flatbed, but because it's not, it has a very small footprint. It also scans both sides of a document at once, and comes with Acrobat 8. All for a really good price.

I'm still borderline nuts about my Livescribe ... I really think you will love yours.

Also loving my new Toshiba laptop (it's a Satelite 2856 ... I think). I've got a great rolling desk set up on my bed now, which is making working ... even when I'm not feeling so well ... pretty easy.

And, I'm just now settling down to read "Eric" by Terry Pratchett. I'm feeling rather better ... I'm keeping solid food in me for several hours at a time, so I'm on the mend.

HP TX 2525. A Canon scanner which type escapes me at the moment. It his negative ad slide capacity. The printer is an HP 500. Does at least 24" wide prints. she has a Nikon D1O. I have a D1X. It needs some work. She does a lot of floral photography. I do landscape and portraits.

Canon 9950F, perhaps? I've got an older Epson 4990 - it's a flatbed with film capacity too, and has done a pretty good job of scanning my old slides and negs so far.

That'll never fit on the desk, you know?

I'm looking at upgrading my old Epson printer to one of your HP's baby brothers - the HP 9180. It prints to A3, and gets pretty good raps around the forums.

Nice. The Dark Side. So, The new D3 and D300 nicely set off a little bomb in that space that others (like my poison, Canon) are seeking to match. I'm considering a 5DMkII at the moment, but the Aussie dollar may have me upgrade my nearing 6-year-old 10D ("The Professor") to a 50D instead.

"Fizzgig", however, is this:

http://flickr.com/photos/hsiao-lee/401329610/
(Note, not my photos)

He's a little half-frame camera - all-manual, no rangefinder (scale focus). I don't rightly know why I bought it (obviously it was very cheap), but, hey, it seemed like it might be fun, and can join the other cameras that have interested me for whatever reason:

OM1 - "Ginger"
EOS 10D - "The Professor"
Oly 770SW - "Flipper"
OM40 - "Thurston"
Oly c5050z - "Lovey"
Oly mju2 - "Gilligan"
Oly 35RC - "The Skipper"
Yashica 35GSN - "Mary Anne"
EOS 50E - "Professor Frink"
Voigtlander R3A - "Bender"
Yashica Mat 124 - "Bitey "
Polaroid 636 Closeup - "Leela"

They're all used in some form or another, except for the TLR for which I am having trouble finding anyone to process the film, even by mail, and for which even getting chemicals so that I can learn how to process at home is not easy. That's one of the problems of living in somewhere more "regional" compared to "Whatever-you-want-we've-got-it-Sydney".

Quote:

If you felt like it, and had it online somewhere, I wouldn't be averse to looking at some of it for my own pleasure.

My tendency is towards people (casual/candid portraiture, almost exclusively family and friends), and objects (beach stuff, compositions of shapes), and my dogs...lots and lots of my dogs.

Right now, I'm about to have a shower (so, for those who subscribe to the webcam, I'm switching it on now. ).

Cheers,
Marc

It's a Canon CanoScan 8800F with up to five negs scanned at a time and some pretty impressive (if one believes the reviews) dust reduction software. I had an HP scanner that sat upright, but alas, they stopped making it and Vista made it a paperweight.

Whatta ya mean the printer won't sit on a desktop? It really depends on the size of the desk, old boy.

Ooooo, sounds nice. Hey, I looked and looked for the TX2525 online (just wanted to drool over it a bit), and was not able to find one ... even on the HP site. Does that seem strange?? Or, did the last few days of being sick completely fry that few functional brain cells I had left???
