De nada. When the search results yield numerous titles, the "second or two" saved, per book, can add up to salient time savings.

83% Off of this Very Highly Rated Book on Japanese Homestyle Comfort Food. $1.99.

Contrary to the idea that you may get from the title, this book apparently has nothing to do with American soul food.

If you live in, say, Odessa or Midland, Texas, you might want to move on to another post. I don't think that you're going to find there the ingredients for the recipes in this book.

I decided to check the ratings at GoodReads, too, because the raters there are . . . how shall I say this . . . . sometimes "special." ha The book scores a 4.27 rating, which is very high for them, also, from 339 ratings.

Four recipes are available for free download on the book's webpage at Amazon.

Sayonara.

Japanese Soul Cooking: Ramen, Tonkatsu, Tempura, and More from the Streets and Kitchens of Tokyo and Beyond. By Tadashi Ono; Harris Salat. Rated 4.7, from 204 reviews at Amazon at the present moment. Print list price $27.50; digital list price $11.99; Kindle price now $1.99.

Book Description
A collection of more than 100 recipes that introduces Japanese comfort food to American home cooks, exploring new ingredients, techniques, and the surprising origins of popular dishes like gyoza and tempura.

Move over, sushi.

It’s time for gyoza, curry, tonkatsu, and furai. These icons of Japanese comfort food cooking are the dishes you’ll find in every kitchen and street corner hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Japan—the hearty, flavor-packed dishes that everyone in Japan, from school kids to grandmas, craves.

In Japanese Soul Cooking, Tadashi Ono and Harris Salat introduce you to this irresistible, homey style of cooking. As you explore the range of exciting, satisfying fare, you may recognize some familiar favorites, such as ramen, soba, udon, and tempura. Others are lesser known Japanese classics—such as wafu pasta (spaghetti with bold, fragrant toppings like miso meat sauce), tatsuta-age (fried chicken marinated in garlic, ginger, and other Japanese seasonings), and savory omelets with crabmeat and shiitake mushrooms—that will instantly become standards in your kitchen as well. With foolproof instructions and step-by-step photographs, you’ll soon be knocking out chahan fried rice, mentaiko spaghetti, saikoro steak, and more for friends and family.

Ono and Salat’s fascinating exploration of the surprising origins and global influences behind popular dishes is accompanied by rich location photography that captures the energy and essence of this food in everyday Japanese life, bringing beloved Japanese comfort food to Western home cooks for the first time.

We have at least two Asian grocery stores in this area.
For a weird idea, it is much easier to get ethnic (Mexican and Asian) foods than it is to get decent seafood here.

I thought that you said that out-of-the-ordinary stuff was hard to find there.

Anyway, as long as you've got good farm-raised catfish, you don't really need any (other) seafood. Oh, and I don't mean "fingerlings," (very short catfish, apparently not very old, either).

I heard a theory quite a few years ago now, that interior areas of the country had better seafood than the places along the coast. I forgot the exact reasoning behind that statement. I need to Google it and see what I come up with. Oh, BTW, I do not subscribe to that theory!

Asian is ordinary around here and Mexican is even more prominent. Not counting the chains, we may have 2 American restaurants in town. Both get their product from the same company as many of the chains.

57 Savoury Onion & Garlic Recipes: Delicious and Wonderful
(57 Recipes Book 6) by Julius Wellington

Onions, garlic, leeks, scallions, and chives are all members of the Allium family. Even though most people only use the underground bulbs of these plants, all parts of the plant are edible as well, from the stalks to the flowers. Actually, I love using the tender leaves of the scallion as much as the slender bulb. And even though chives are classified as an herb, anyone who has tried them knows they have a strong onion flavor. The small, purple flowers are attractive on a salad, and have a very strong “oniony” bite to them.

The onion is analogous to the turnip.

In some places--maybe most places--people use the turnip bulb or root or whatever it's called, and throw away the greens. In the Deep South, the opposite is true--very few people (natives, at least) eat the turnips; many people eat turnip "greens" (leaves). Personally, I do not care for turnips unless they are prepared "just so." But I love turnip greens just about any way that I can get them.

A story that you might find funny. When I was a child, we moved from the Deep South to Louisville, Kentucky, which I consider much more Midwestern (like Cincinnati) in character than the Deep South. When my mother went grocery shopping soon after we moved, she saw plenty of turnips in the produce section. She asked the produce person, "where are your turnip greens?" The produce guy was basically dumbstruck and said, "lady, we throw those away!"

Mother did finally find a reliable supply of turnip greens somewhere in the area. But, she may have had to have somebody in the produce section of some grocery store save some just for her.

Since Cracker Barrel restaurants have become ubiquitous over nearly the entire mainland of the U.S. now, people are much more familiar with the concept, at least, of eating turnip greens than they used to be.

Oh, two other Deep South favorites are mustard greens and collard greens. You might find mustard greens for sale in a grocery outside of the Deep South, but you probably won't find collard greens anywhere else.

Copycat Restaurant Recipes: 101 Delicious, Nutritious, Low Budget, Mouthwatering Copycat Restaurant Recipes Cookbook
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EI4P062

Quote:
If you love cooking and eating out, you just have to check this out as there are copycat recipes for all your favourite restaurants and dishes. Be warned though – it is a very long post with lots of photos of the dishes. You will have to give it a minute to load if you are on a slower connection. I promise you it is worth the wait though.

You are in for a real treat today. I’m here to show you that you can have a delicious and healthy lunch on-the-go in no time at all. It’s alarming how often we eat out, and by ‘we’ I mean our society –

I personally actually don’t eat out that often. For one, we spend way too much on our grocery budget each month to justify eating out in addition to all the groceries waiting for us in our fridge and pantry.

Secondly, because you have no control over the ingredients, the calorie count of most meals are astronomical. My goal today is to show you how simple it is to make your restaurant favorites right at home. Save money AND your waistline.

So what are you waiting for? Get a lunch plan in the works and work your way to happier and healthier lunches.

There were no pictures. Half the recipes didn't say where they were copycats from.
Some recipes didn't have full instructions. The fonts were not consistent. 4 recipes for KFC coleslaw. No rhyme or reason to the order of the recipes. The book opened at 18% due to at least 2 and maybe 3 copies of the table of contents.
Oh and I would not consider Clorox Anywhere delicious or nutritious or mouthwatering. It was in the middle of the book.

I have decided that almost all the cookbooks on Amazon that are "on sale" for $0.00 are scams. I used to download a lot of those but never found anything that I couldn't get by searching the internet. Just made me glad I never paid money for any of them!
