The answer to the question, "How long did it take to write your novel?"

This time, I'm prepared for the answer to the question, "How long did it take to write your novel?"

Six days, nine hours, one minute

Willing to host a giveaway on my blog

I've been out of reviewing for the best part of year due to personal reasons. I'm now back on form and starting to review again and so want something big to come back with. I've been thinking of a giveaway as I personally love competitions and things.

So I was wondering if there are any crime, mystery, thriller writers out there who would be willing to offer one of their e-books up for a giveaway (run fairly via Rafflecopter) in exchange for a promotional post accompanying the giveaway. The giveaway could be set up with options like 'liking' the author's Facebook, Twitter or Tweeting about the book in order to enter. So it would be win-win from both sides.

If anyone is interested or has any suggestions/warnings please post or PM.

Tech Catcher: Steven Lyle Jordan's sources of inspiration

Since I don't think I've done this here, I'd like to introduce my blog, Tech Catcher: Sources of an SF author's inspiration.

Tech Catcher mostly concerns itself with the future, science and technology, modern media, and my personal journey through the universe of ebooks. In it, I have reviewed books and movies, examined the state and future of technology like automobiles and the internet, examined ebooks and their place in the literary and commercial world, compared the state of the world to literary sources (especially my own), and promoted websites and technologies I believe are worthy of our support. It's also a great site to check out my other various social media outlets and press.

I hope you'll visit Tech Catcher, read a few entries, and follow the blog, to keep track of my musings and my progress on my next and future novels.

A Call to Faith, the Journey of a Cancer Survivor
Author: J. Patrick Thomas
http://www.acalltofaithbook.com

Young and handsome, beautiful wife and children, and amassed a small fortune before the age of thirty. He had it all – or did he? Skip Sibley never knew his marine aviator father who died in a helicopter crash. A younger sister who committed suicide in college. The witnessing of God when he needed it most. But his toughest battles may still lie ahead of him; finding his faith in God through cancer and divorce.
Inspiring True Story
The journey of a cancer survivor weaves its way through the Charleston, SC Lowcountry. Anyone or any family that has been caught in the battlegrounds of cancer or other life threatening illnesses will find comfort and hope from the life of Skip Sibley. An ordinary man struck down in the prime of his life. But according to visions and the voice of God, it wasn’t time for Skip Sibley to depart this earth. A profound message of hope was his calling, to show you that people do survive and come out the other side.
Let Skip Sibley lead you to a better place where pain and suffering subside, and peace and hope prevail.
__________________________________________________ _____________
J. Patrick Thomas (Jay) is a four-time cancer survivor and author who lives with his family in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Jay attended Gettysburg College and The American University before embarking on an entrepreneurial career on Wall Street. Jay turned to the teaching profession after his life-threatening bout with bone cancer. He may be one of the few people that tell you cancer was the best thing to ever happen to him. You’ll have to ask him why.

The writer as carpenter

This recent blog post describes my book-producing method:

Quote:
I like to compare my writing process to that of a carpenter making a chair; an orderly process that invariably results in a recognizable product, as basic or ornate as I desire. Since I’ve used my writing process on over a dozen novels, and it has never given me a problem, I consider it a pretty good method, and I often recommend it to other authors. So, in the interest of edification of my fellow writers, I’ll describe the process here.
