Well - yesterday it was sunny, breezy, and in the 70's F.

Today is overcast/cloudy, damp, and in the 40's F.

see, that kind of weather combined with the humidity is why I think I spent so damn much time sick in Basic. I came down with bronchial pneumonia (NOT a good thing in Basic Training) and was in the hospital for 2 weeks

We got hit with about 30cm of snow yesterday. Of course I wake up in the morning with a severe bladder infection, all the schools are closed due to the snow so I have the kids and I HAVE to get to a doctor asap. I drive all the way across town to the walk-in clinic just to discover (cause I was too stupid to call first) that the walk-in is closed and MIGHT open at 1pm. I drove all the way back home (sliding most of the way because they barely plowed the streets). By 1pm when they opened I was in way too much pain to drive. Luckily my husband got off work early since nobody was shopping for cars and so he drove me. Poor kids didn't get to enjoy their snow day

Today the roads are a little better and -22C and sunny.

Very true - weather in the Carolinas: you can wear shorts & T-shirt on Monday and have your pipes freeze on Friday!

Colorado was like that as well. the big difference was the damp; cold damp, warm mucky damp. I think my lungs molded

I was diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection twice in Basic Training and finally with pneumonia. I came within a hair's breath of being recycled. I think the only thing that saved me was the large number of spinal meningitis cases in the camp at the time. The Army didn't want to recycle any more recruits than they absolutely had to.

yeah, I was recycled. 2 weeks in the hospital will do that. I kept getting misdiagnosed and that's why I got so sick. of course the Drills were beginning to accuse me of malingering. then came passing out in the messhall and an ambulance ride to the hospital. eventually they all came and visited and apologized. I was REALLY sick. it took about 3 days to get my temp down to under 102. their solution to that was to have me sit in the hallway and drink ice water under supervision. I kept falling asleep doing that as well. medical care in the military has gotten a LOT better since then!

I take it you got the cold shower treatment, then? I hated that worse than the high fever, which if I recall correctly (it's been 43 years!), spiked at 104 or 105.

The only time that I got bronchial pneumonia was when a member of an organisation that I belonged to, insisted on coming to a meeting which we were having, and quite happily spreading the germs to one and all.

We went down one after the other.

Poor bugger. I hope you have that under control. You don't want a kidney infection too. When you're feeling better you might want to read up on cranberry.
