But the issue with KSM might be due to no longer being compatible with Nickel. So does KSM work if Nickel is run first?

I think that the compatibility problems are with the newer hardware, not Nickel..

But is anyone sure it's hardware and not software? If it is hardware, where is the cutoff and if it is software what's the last firmware it works with?

1. upside down
2. unresponsive to touch
3. only boots half of the time
4. wifi problems in nickel

Only boots half the time isn't a problem; it's a safety feature. You can disable that once you're convinced it's safe to do so if desired.

The fact that you say touch is unresponsive would mean the only way to do that is by directly editing the config and you'd effectively lock yourself out of your device if you did. It's exactly to prevent that from happening that it's the default behavior.

Point 3 is actually a safety measure. It tries to give you a chance to remove KSM when things go bad.

I'm not saying KSM works in some cases. I'm saying KSM is dead and let it be dead. Others are syaing KSM works in some cases. And if others read that KSM still works, they may try it to find out it doesn't work.

I don't boot directly, but I don't go to nickel, there's no reason for that with KSM.

I have the problem that the KoReader can't connect to PC without KSM.

Libra's new, so I definitely wouldn't count on it.

That being said, since it's basically a smaller version of the Forma that special version might work.

KSM9 has long been used for the Kobo Libra including USB. It runs great with Fw. 4.21.15015 and also under Fw. 4.22.15190.

With new Kobo firmware, the "Kobo eReader.conf" must be edited before installing KSM!
