I just got a free 30 day trial to Kindle Unlimited. As you know I've had my membership on and off so this is a wonderful surprise to qualify! Just in time to read a few books that were just released.

Oh that's great! I love KU. Hopefully I will have the money to get another year of it at a Black Friday sale price.

I was introduced to authors such as Jamie Beck, Sandra Owens, Barbara Longley (her contemps, for some reason I couldn't get into her historicals) through Kindle Unlimited. For me their books are enjoyable reads. There's probably more I can't think of off the top of my head.

A huge number of titles in a bunch of series (Poor Relation, House for the Season, School for Manners, Six Sisters, Regency Intrigue, Traveling Matchmaker, possibly some others) by M.C. Beaton have dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US. There are too many to list, but here is a link for all (plus a stray Kindle Single):

Stealing Mr. Right by Tamara Morgan (Sourcebooks) is free. Sequel just came out.

Spoiler:
She's a famous jewel thief.
He's FBI.
What's that saying? Keep your friends close...and your husband closer.

Being married to a federal agent certainly has its perks.

1. Who doesn't love the way a G-man looks in his suit?
2. This way a savvy jewel thief always knows what the enemy is up to.

Spending her days lifting jewels and her nights tracking the Bureau should have been a genius plan. But the closer Penelope get to Grant Emerson, the more dangerous this feels. With two million dollars' worth of diamonds on the line, she can't afford to fall for her own husband.

It turns out that the only thing worse than having a mortal enemy is being married to one. Because in their game of theft and seduction, only one of them will come out on top.

Good thing a cat burglar always lands on her feet.

Volume 2 of Marie Force's Fatal series, which contains Books 4-6 plus a novella, is on sale for $1.99. I really like this series and this is a great price, especially because Vol. 1 with the first 3 books was on sale (free?) just a few weeks ago.

The Fatal series Volume 2

Which of those (if any) would be a good place to start for someone who has never read any Heyer?

They're all good. It really depends on what you want out of them - history or romance.

The Quiet Gentleman comes across as more of a historical mystery with romantic overtones. as does The Talisman Ring. The first has as the PoV character the male hero, the latter has more equal billing between the leads and is set earlier. The Quiet Gentleman is post-Waterloo, whereas The Talisman Ring is Napoleonic Wars.

These Old Shades and Devil's Cub are the first 2 books in the Alistair Audley sequence and should be read in that order (there's another 2 with the grandchild of Devil's Cub); the eponymous Devil's Cub being the son of the lead of These Old Shades. Both are (largely) set in Ancien Regime France.

The other 5 are all stand-alone (along with the first 2). They're all classic Regency romances with a main female PoV character (apart from A Civil Contract).

The one I've probably read the most is A Civil Contract, followed by A Quiet Gentleman and Lady of Quality.

Thanks. I'll try to make my mind up before the offer expires in a couple of hours.
