Hi!
Is there a way or workaround that I will be able to convert to an "unsupported" language? Like Hungarian? How does Calibre know the language of the book? |

I am successfully converting books in Bulgarian. All I have to do is temporarily change the language in Calibre metadata to Russian - it uses (almost) the same alphabet - and then conversion works. Reading such converted book is OK, only hyphenation doesn't work.

Just confirming: Convert does not equal Translate
![]() When you complete correcting ![]() BUT you may need to embed a supporting font to support your books character set on the target device. AND If it is is not for personal use, you need a Legal to embed font Does this help? |

Version 1.39.0 - 13 Feb 2020
Add experimental conversion of vertical Chinese language books to KFX. <meta name="primary-writing-mode" content="vertical-rl"/> must be present in the <metadata> section of the OPF to enable Chinese vertical text conversion. (Vertical Chinese is not officially supported in KFX by Amazon. Use at your own risk.) Fix conversion of books containing the "background-clip" property. (Fixes "Unexpected Ion symbols used: $73") Support additional KFX features. (Fixes "Unexpected Ion symbols used: $759") |

Given that hyphenation doesn't work, why bother with KFX? There's no need for it in that case. If you can find a compatible Bulgarian hyphenation dictionary, you can use the Hyphenate This! plugin and hyphenate KF8 (AZW3) and be able to read with correct hyphenation.

For example, if your book file from Kindle Create is named my comic book.kpf use the command: calibre-debug -r "KFX Output" -- "my comic book.kpf" The resulting file will be named my comic book.kfx. Yes, it should work for that. |

Hi, on my Mac I installed everything according to the instructions except the Kindle Previewer is 3.37 instead of the recommended 3.36. Calibre does not seem to find the folder of the Previewer. I tried restarts, a reinstallation of the Previewer and specifying the path in the Tweaks Settings manually like this:

Hope someone can help me with this because I would really enjoy enhanced typesetting beyond the hyphenation. |

I just checked whether the folder exists, and it does. My user and the admin both have read&write permissions.

Since I do not have a Mac I will not be able to test it myself. It may take more than one try to get it right. If you want to produce KFX files in the mean time you will need to revert to an older version of the Kindle Previewer. That tweak setting is definitely going not going to work. You will need to remove that. |

Thank you for the quick reply! If you need a tester, I am happy to help. I could set aside some time to be available on demand and report back whether your changes worked.
