Your post made me pull back out the CD I had been listening to non-stop from December 7-20. I met Malika Ayane, a talented up-and-coming singer from Milan on my trip to Torino in early December. She says she wants to come perform in Texas, because that's where Janis came from. Personally, I don't see a huge connection between her music and Ms. Joplin's, but she could definitely use more exposure here in the US. ian is the brother of dave thomas of sctv fame, i haven't heard that song in ages, i liked the song and loved the ladies, perhaps a bit too much

I'm listening to (trying not to, actually) an endless barrage of fireworks as I watch the poor dog cowering and shaking in fear during this semiannual ritual. How I wish people weren't so enamored with blowing stuff up. As an antidote (for me; the dog will have to continue to suffer a bit), I'll listen to some Coldplay. It hardly matters what song.

I'm currently listening to silence - all the fireworks have thankfully stopped.

When the cats were still around, they hated fireworks, which meant October through to February was not good (Guy Fawkes, Divali, New Year, Chinese New Year to name but a few occasions). I wish someone would invent quiet fireworks - I love the prettiness and hate the noise.

Random moments of fireworks here...they've stopped for the moment. Hopefully long enough for me to actually get the dog outside.

When stuff isn't being blown up, I'm listening the the Twilight Zone marathon playing in the other room, with "Fallout 3" being played in the background. Is an interesting mashup.

One of my dogs is deaf, and the other one (a "rescue" that lived his first eight years outside, no doubt listening to storms and fireworks and what-not), couldn't give a rat's clacker about the noise. We're lucky that way, though the late Monts wasn't fond, and with fireworks or storms would crawl under the coffee table (a reasonably feat for a larger dog) and pretend everything was okay.

At the moment, I'm listening to fans and an air-conditioner, because the morning after New Years Eve is always one of the quietest of the year.
