It would also be nice to be able to open the menu when reading by swiping up and maybe set a bookmark by swiping down if that's possible.

This way you could easily allow a setting where tapping anywhere would turn the page forward. And that's what you will mostly need when reading.

Swiping motions for back and forward page turning would remain the same, so if there was a need to go a page or two back, you could do that with swiping.

My Kobo is strictly a book reader so I would like the option of having it open up to the last page of the book I am reading instead of having to re-select my book each time. I would really like the bottom bar to disappear though. I object strongly to the advertising and no matter what anyone says when they say "we've selected these books for you", they are trying to sell you something: advertising. I can select my own books thanks!

The device is more stable now but it did hang a couple of times lately and required a hard reset. All in all though, I enjoy the reading experience on the Kobo very much. I haven't bought a paper book in ages.

Have you tried using just sleep mode? And if you don't want to see the advertising, you can select Short List.

And I agree that they should either get rid of the recommendations on the bottom or fix it, the recommendations are not accurate at all. But it doesn't really bother me, I usually have it on new releases or Short List.

An other feature I'll like is new tape area choice :
half screen bottom to next page
half screen top to previous page
and small menu area at the top center instead of bottom center

And why not THE button to next page instead of home.

Good idea about the button. The only problem I see about using the button for page forward is that it is a mechanical device and page forward is probably the most frequently used function. Eventually the switch WILL fail and it would cost more than the Touch is worth to have it replaced or repaired. I know the Kindle uses switches (buttons) for its functions but they WILL fail and buying a new device is really the only practical option and what a waste that would be.

I would rather have list of titles sorted by titles, authors, genres, tags or folders. Book covers are sometimes good visual clues but many are all but worthless or missing in my ebook library. Postage stamp size covers are always worthless as now displayed on bottom of kobo touch home screen.

Most books in my library have short description of the book that I can see in calibre or kobo desktop program but not access on my Kobo Ereaders. This would be helpful when selecting books from my kobo's library to read.

Your list of news papers and magazine subscriptions might be ok for Canada but no sales for my Florida location.

I like the Kobo Wifi library showing list of books on each page more books listed on each page is better because I need less page turns to find books I want to read or put on short list. (Wishing for folders.) Kobo touch showing covers in library means less books on each library page so it takes more time and page turns to find the book. Slider to find page with book I want is good idea if device was more responsive. With large library alphabet selection is quicker to get close to wanted book.

Kobo touch page turns were really quick. Wish for page turns to be quick again.

Someone posted in a different thread that search terms that you enter in the in-book search get stored but there is no way to clear that list or edit it. Perhaps a future update can add some method to clear/edit that search term list.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but I would rather have a list of folders on my homescreen than books.

I use my Kobo for school mainly and it would be nice to have all my books in folders for each class that I'm in. Tap folder, see book list, pick book.

That would make it a lot easier for me to keep my personal, fun reading separate from my school reading as well. My Aluratek LCD e-reader let me organize all my stuff into folders and it was a very handy feature.

Also, maybe an option to extract all highlighted text for books on your device. (including sideloaded books)

My suggestions for future firmware releases:
Personally I read mostly epub books. So some of my suggestions are probably not be applicable to (all) other file formats.

BTW. My suggestions/feature requests are possible with other ereaders I own.

* show embedded metadata in books (just as embedded TOC)
* full screen reading mode (no headers/footers): adds a few extra lines to a page
* support of sub folders in the Digital Editions folder
* library: sort by title, author, filename
* library: show book as cover/text (or combination)
* home screen: display all books with same size. Highlight last read book.
* battery: show percentage; show warning message when remaining battery life is low
* file browser

Errors?
* page margins not (always) respected when text sizes are increased/ general margin problems

Kind of trivial but how about the option to switch between total page counts as opposed to by chapter page counts in kobo epubs.

That would be nice, but I don't know if it's possible. I might be wrong, but I heard that each chapter is stored as an individual file. If it's important to you, you could download the ePub version from the Kobo site.
