Hmmm.... considering that K4PC 2.4.1 does not work with DeDRM and it uses the .kinf2018 directory? Good luck with that!

KFX ZIP and no DRM Removal
I have followed all the instructions you kindly posted with all software and plug in versions posted. The books I am able to download from Amazon (tried both from Kindle PC and eink Kindle) are loaded into Calibre as KFX ZIP (there are no error codes in the Caliber debug log) and then when I try to covert them into any other format Calibre gives me a DRM protection error. Have you encounter this with the latest Amazon books? Is there anything you recomment I explore. Thanks so much for you advice!

Dedrm most reliably happens during the initial add/import of the book though with more recent versions will happen during conversion as well; so if a book failed, delete it from Calibre and retry after making whatever changes are tried. Note: if your kindle is actually a fire tablet, the eink kindle method won't work as the fire is different from actual eink devices. |

And both calibre and the kindle app must be on the same device and user account (i.e. copying the files from the app on one account/computer and adding them to calibre on another won't work).

When downloading to a PW3, would I expect to get a single file KFX or multiple files?

Personal documents in KFX format are a single KFX file. Regular books purchased or borrowed from Amazon will have one main KFX file and also one or more additional KFX files along with a DRM voucher file in the .sdr folder associated with the book.

That change, along with the new DRM algorithms present in Kindle for PC 2.4.1 and later, shows that Amazon is taking a multi-layered approach to hardening Kindle DRM. |

If you copy the KFX file and the matching .sdr directory to your PC in the same directory, you can add the files to calibre as long as the serial number of the Kindle is installed in DeDRM's configuration.

The one KFX book I tested from the PW3 I just copied the single file and it seemed like it was a complete eBook and the DRM was able to be removed. I'll have to try again with a few test samples.

I am curious to hear about what you find. I have never seen a book in KFX format that didn’t involve multiple files other than a personal document.

I have always copied only one azw. file from my Kindle for PC 2.40. This becomes KFX after importing to calibre and removing the DRM. I've never imported any other files.

As long as you are adding the main book file to calibre from the original folder, KFX Input takes care of gathering everything else.
