I've been having some computer problems this afternoon, so I'm hoping that the reason that I'm seeing only one is because of that. I hope that Naxos is not beginning to limit the choices to one each month.

In case you have not subscribed to Naxos' newsletters yet, here is their homepage. I don't know if signing up this late will allow you to grab the freebie for this month or not.

Oddly, I haven't received my newsletter yet. My E-mail address starts with M, so maybe they're still working their way down the list. After I do, I'll report back if I see more than one album or not.

Also, our past tests showed they do not send that month's newsletter out to you when you signup. So you'll have to wait till October to get a free album. Still totally worth it, since they're free, DRM-free, lossless albums!

Mine came at 9:01 a.m. Eastern time. The email address that I use for that site starts with "f," so I would have to think that that is not the issue.

Here's the entire webpage, as far as I can tell, for this month. It differs from past months. For one thing, it is much briefer. One image, in the middle of the top row of them, says something like, "Download your free album." If you click on it, you don't get any choices, you're only offered the album that I mentioned. I just checked again just now.

If you click on the download link, you get a webpage that says, "You can only download one album. Are you sure you want to download "DUSSEK, J.L.: Piano Concertos, Opp. 22 and 49 / The Sufferings of the Queen of France (Staier, Concerto Koln)"? Yes! No! Take me back to the other choices. That is at least substantially the words that we've gotten before; however, this time I have not seen any other choices.

Things will probably become clearer, as to what is going on with the album giveaway, after the passage of a little bit of time.

I vaguely remember, now, that that was brought up on this thread. Sorry for my forgetfulness.

Personally, I may hold off for a time on downloading the single free album that I can find now, in case Naxos comes up with the two additional ones, like they've been providing before. One of them may be more to my liking.

No, in this case it was not a faux pas. Well, it was a faux pas, but for a different reason.

As I mentioned, I don't follow any of the Doctor Who stuff. I was under the impression that this was a series of videos, in which case I think that this would have been the correct thread for it.

Indeed, I checked my past newsletters and they were all sent around 9am Eastern, so I should have already received this month's too.

I think they may have some things screwed up on their site right now. Some background here: I realized the day before yesterday that I had forgotten to pick my free album for August. So I tried using the link, and it failed with the invalid link message. I figured they had expired it, no big deal. Well just now, while loading the newsletter to check the link format, the link worked. I was able to pick my August album, even though it had been expired two days ago, and should definitely be expired now that they've sent out the new newsletter.

Hopefully this means they'll be resending the newsletter with multiple albums to choose from, and actually sending it to everyone who's signed up.

And don't worry about the forgetfulness, I do that a lot too. And I don't mind posting reminders when necessary.

Ah, gotcha. For the record, Big Finish doesn't really do video contest; they are an audiobook (well, more like audio drama) company.

Nothing here, either, but at least one person in the R's has theirs. She only had one to choose from in her newsletter.

The only issue is that the name of musical instrument is not "violin." It is "fiddle." Fiddle. At least, that's what my east Tennessee and north Alabama parents taught me . . . . Other than that, I have no complaint.

I didn't see anything in the URL that would divulge anything personal, but I went ahead and changed it anyway. Better safe than sorry. I had to truncate all the way back to www.naxos.com in order to keep from getting a 403.14 error (I know about the infamous 404 error, but this is the first time that I've seen this one), though.

I don't worry about divulging personal information on the computer, anyway. Why, I got this nice message from a Nigerian prince a year or so ago informing me that I had inherited several million dollars, after I had accidentally left a link to my email address in a URL that I gave out publicly. I only needed to send him a certified check for $1,000 so that he could handle the legal work, etc. Only thing is, I sent the check right away and I still haven't gotten my millions of dollars . . . . I wonder what's taking so long. ha

Google Play continues to amaze. At least their music album deals do. They've got a new slate of great ones for only 99 cents. Yes, that's albums.

About half of the artists/groups are older ones. But they are ones that I grew up listening to, so I'm thrilled.

I've just emailed Naxos' customer service to ask them what the deal is about getting only one choice of albums this month. When(if) I hear from them, I'll let you know what I learned.

The problem isn't revealing personal info, but that if someone else grabbed the one album listed currently with your URL, you wouldn't be able to use the URL to get it yourself after that.

403.14 is weird, 403 is the standard error code for forbidden. Apparently Microsoft's Internet Information Services (web server software) uses 403.14 specifically when access to a directory is denied, as opposed to all the other ways a 403 can be generated (IIS has 23 different ones).
