One good thing about the pw2 is it does break on em dash. The KK treats blah--blah as a single word, which is really dumb.

I finally managed to take tolerable pictures of my PW1 (daylight, setting 12 and 24). I am not saying it is perfect, far from, but was good enough to keep. It still looks better in real life anyway (there is no blue cloud on the screen, but this is the best I could squeeze out of mobile phone camera)
Btw, Barty was it you who found holding PW problematic? Maybe this case would help? You can slide your fingers behind and just tap with thumb. |

Hyphenate This! It works very well with English and Dutch books (using an English and Dutch hyphenation dictionary); I see no reason why it wouldn't work with German, or other languages using the corresponding dictionaries. Quote:
Some people are even taking this to the extreme, splitting up Dutch words that should not be split up, and that are not even split up in English... and then they go and even split up the English word. Dutch: "Toetsenbord"; English: "Keyboard" Wrong Dutch: "Toetsen bord"; Wrong English: "Key board" At work, I've actually seen people "correct" my spelling in things like documentation, thus spelling the words wrong, and when asking about it, I got told that "I wrote way too many words as one word, making my text unreadable." As I said, after some time we don't need no hyphen ation any more be cause both lang uages will be rui ned by then. The peo ple will be too stu pid to under stand words that are longer than six let ters or so. (<- If you think that text seems to be completely idiotic, then imagine that nowadays, a lot of online texts in Dutch read like that.) Last edited by Katsunami; 10-06-2013 at 03:40 PM. |

Thanks! It is really great. Here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Pape...I1IIWP982AGPJN or just look for TeckNet. It is not slim, and adds weight but it is excellently made and not expensive. Magnet works very well and you do have to pull to open, meaning it won't open by itself or turn the light on without you knowing, and nothing will get in between. |

I'm so excited now to get my new PW this week in the UK. I've been reading on my iPad mini for a month and it eats the battery life.

![]() Yes second picture looks very close to reality and better in person with light at full blast. The first picture is not so good, in reality font is sharp and dark grey. My camera couldn't focus properly I guess. 12 is what I use in pitch black room and then the yellow tint kicks in, which is quite comfortable at night. I read at 18 in the evening in bright lit room but I can read at 24 with no problem. My PW has much lower light setting than average from what I read here. I could never use it at 3 or 4 in darkness. I don't have problems with my eyes. I may attempt to take close up of text at 12 but it takes forever to capture what it really looks like. |

BTW- have you played with adding different fonts (since you have a PW1)? There are several fonts created by JSWolf in the old 'What font are you using' thread that are quite good. ![]() Last edited by GoSharks; 10-06-2013 at 05:35 PM. |

Then it would get down to the choice of staying with 5.3.8 and use your own fonts, or upgrade to the new firmware with new features, and omit your own fonts... I have not yet decided. Apart from the page-flip and foot-note popup features of the KPW2, there is nothing else that would entice me to upgrade. I'd like those features to be backported, but reading using the KPW1 fonts again is hard after reading my own custom DejaVu Serif Fat for so long, should Amazon close the loophole... My new blue cover for it has been sitting on the shelf with it's retail-packaging sleeve intact. International release on October 15 is not that far off anymore :-) Waiting .... |
