No, only I did, and actually it wasn't until a few years later. Saw the superkite competition at Chicago's lakefront when I was in junior high. Thought it highly cool; went out and bought a kite at a local convenience store and had at it.

There were multiple natural phenomena to explain away, so it stands to reason that there was a pantheon in early Judaism.
Yes. I believe YHWH was originally a god of lightning and storms.

Further, Judaism is not only fractious now but probably started as a combination of beliefs meeting at the crossroads which was Caanan. From what I can see it appears to be at least partially the result of an exposure to Zoroastrianism, which appears to have still more in common with Christianity.
That may be the case. Certainly, Christianity had internal battles about various issues raised by Zoroastrianism.

IIRC, one flavor of Zoroastrianism believed that Ormuzd (the good spirit) and Ahriman (the bad spirit) were equally powerful, and it was not a foregone conclusion that good would triumph over evil. There's a Christian heresy (whose name I'm forgetting), that had similar ideas, and was a cause of controversy in the early church. They may have gotten the notion from the Zoroastrians.

Some of the Gnostics, an early off-shoot of Christianity, held similar beliefs.

Oh dear...my original query was:

"Just reflecting on the latest developments re a certain Pastor and a certain Holy Book.

I am a big scaredy cat and won't be there in person on the day. However, I have an e-book version of the Koran and am planning to delete it!! Does this count?"

It was a JOKE! I was trying to make a joke out of the fact that if someone thinks that by burning a physical copy of a book his or her God is outraged or offended, how does that mentality view the deletion of digital copies...it must be a theological nightmare for them!

My joke was intended for the idiots who feel offended at the burning of the Koran, and a jibe at those who think burning a book is a sign of anything.

I mean no disrespect to Kindlekitten or anyone else, and especially do not want to hurt the feelings or belittle any of the US forces or their families. I only meant it as a jokey comment. Thanks to the poster who linked us up with the cartoon.
