A Casca update.

The delay is down to the security issues over passwords for the software. As soon as they are resolved I think they'll be ready. I'll announce it on the website and email all those, like yourself, who have contacted me on the ebook issue.

DRMed, that is unfortunate. I do buy such books but not many and generally stuff I can remove, not to share it everywhere but to ensure I can open it in the future.

When Gravity Fails by George Alec Effinger. A Fire in the Sun and The Exile Kiss too, for that matter.

The Trigon Disunity (Emprise, Enigma, Empery) by Michael P. Kube-McDowell.

Those are the top of my list at the moment.

Well I got my first wish, last year as I recall: Lord of the Rings by Tolkien

So now that I am wading through 870 physical pages of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix my wish sort of hovers around Rowling discovering that computers and eBook devices are not minions of the devil.

But I am not holding my breath waiting for her to change her mind.

Are those all in the same series? I had the first one in paperback ages ago but never read it as I discovered its part of a trilogy.

Ah yes - I'd definitely like those. Earlier this year I gave away a few boxes of books and all my Slippery Jim DiGrizz books were in them.

My current grail is "Lucifer's Dragon" by Jon Courtenay Grimwood. I've managed to find all the other books in this series (sometimes called the Clare Fabio Series - neoAddix, Lucifer's Dragon, reMix, redRobe) but for some reason this one doesn't appear to have ever been converted. I naively toyed with the idea of buying a second copy to disassemble to scan/OCR, but know that I don't have the time or patience.

All the old John le Carre spy stories - only the new novels seem to be available in ebook format.
I wish I had the time to "convert" some of the dreadfully scanned old academic books on Google, being a bit of a Medieval philosophy and history nut I would love to have a good EPUB version of de Wulf's History of Medieval Philiosophy and similar stuff.

Yep - they're all the same series. I'm pretty sure they're in the order I listed them, as well.

And if you've still got that paperback of When Gravity Fails, do yourself a favor and read it.

Actually, she and her publishers are working on it. Though, I'm not quite sure what "working on it" actually means. The instant they're available, I'm buying them all again.

I'd also like digital Chronicles of Narnia and His Dark Materials omnibuses. The books are available individually, but my paper versions are omnibuses, so I've gotten used to having them all in one volume.

Scratch that...CoN is available as an omnibus. HDM doesn't seem to be though.

At least the internet is keeping them available when publishers aren't.

I agree that the Stainless Steel Rat books are great fun, as well as being a wonderful nostalgia trip.
