The US version will ship with a US adapter. Europeans have to pay extra if they want a "normal" () adapter... So, if you use the US system in Brasil, you don't need to buy anything extra.

Well, I thought that as well, that every Kindle came with a US power adapter, but here's what the international page says:

Included in the box
Kindle wireless reader
USB 2.0 cable
(for connection to a Kindle power adapter or to connect to a computer.)

and:

Charge Via USB
Kindle ships with a micro-USB cable for charging your Kindle from a computer USB port.

while the US page says:

Charge Via USB
Kindle ships with a U.S. power adapter and a micro-USB cable for charging your Kindle from a computer USB port. The U.S. power adapter supports voltages 100V-240V.

So I guess non-US and non-UK users are out of luck.

Thank you for sharing. It looks like the page turns are very, very fast. But the page turn buttons look very, very narrow. Are they too narrow, making them hard to use without looking?

They are wide enough to use without having to look, it helps that the buttons slope towards the outer edge of the Kindle & therefore you can easily feel where the button begins.

I do keep making the mistake of expecting the largest button on the left to take me back a page, but I'm guessing even the previous models were set up that way. I'm starting to learn to hold it so my right thumb is next to the page forward button and my left thumb near the page back.

Mine starts with B008 as well.

My SN is B006-- for a 3G+WiFi kindle.

The start guide that came with it states "Not all Kindles come with a power adapter" or similar.

Wow! That is much better support for PDf on a 6" screen than what I expected. I hope they port the contrast adjustment and margin narrowing functions to my Kindle DX Graphite.

BTW, you can press Shift+Alt+G keys similtaneously to take a snapshot of the screen. (Shift is the key next to the Alt key with an up arrow on it.) The snapshot of the screen will be saved as a GIF in the Documents folder on the K3 with a name similar to screen_shot-8443.gif. At least this works on the KDXG.

Apparently Amazon does not know that there are countries which use the same US power plug.

All you have to do is order the "US" Kindle, it will come with the US adapter. And it can be shipped to Brazil (I'm from Brazil too, and that's how I got my KDXG).

There is no need to order the "international" Kindle, unless you don't want the US adapter and wants to buy the European or UK adapter.

Can you try annotation? in particular do PDF annotations round-trip with your computer's PDF reader? i.e. can you view/edit annotations from one on the other? (at least with highlights and notes - Kindle can only view graphic annotations, can't create them)

Well, there is a problem with that, because Brazil doesn't use the same 3G bands as the US. There is a warning on the US page saying that international buyers should order from the international page to garantee that 3G will work on their country.

Anyway, I'll just get a US charger, it will only be $5 with the discount, but I still think Amazon should offer a free charger for every Kindle.

Well, anyway, now I'll go order mine, I do regret not having ordered when it was first available for preorder. If I had done that it would probably be here in the next few days.

Nah, not a dimwit, I had to google to see about bait and bate! It came up with eggcorn, which is a linguistics term where modern usage takes over spelling etc. I guess the classic eggcorns these days is txt tlk.
