I got here via a Google search about the Foxit eslick, when I was thinking about getting my first ebook reader. I ended up with an Astak EZ Reader, thanks to Robert B, and I've never looked back. Why do I stay, and why do I keep posting, though? Because you're all either as crazy or crazier than I am! Do you know how rare that is?

Because I no longer have to lug around a couple of thousand books in crates every time I move house - my poor back!
Honestly, when I started looking at options for e-readers as a replacement for my stupid and utterly impractical book collection - this place was a god send.

I came for the win a Kindle contest and stayed for the people! On any given day I can find Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, agnostics, gays, straights, conservatives, liberals, Australians, Brits, Iranians, and pretty much every other flavor under the sun exchanging ideas, and most do it with gentleness and respect for opposing viewpoints. Sure, we have a few flame-throwers, and a few who engage in personal attacks, but compared to the rest of the Internet, this place is pretty civilized.

While I'm very new, and read much more than I post, my motives for getting involved here are very much like most of the comments above. There are interesting people here talking about things that interest me in a mostly civilized way on a board whose software doesn't make me want to scream. You don't find those all in one place all that often on the Internet.

We can't escape - the mods have sealed the tunnel up, that's after filling it with sand, setting man-traps and locking the door with six padlocks - and they've also taken the only crowbar in the place.
