Deluxe Cover arrives

My "Deluxe Cover" arrived today, with the promised extra stylus as compensation for the delay in shipping. I'm not particularly impressed, however. It looks nice, but it adds considerably to the bulk of the iLiad, and it doesn't fold back as compactly as I'd hoped. The snap closure dangles out into space while you're reading unless you tuck it between the two covers.

As for protection, there's a good bit of padding, and the front cover is fairly stiff. But the iLiad is held in securely only at the bottom--it seems as if the iLiad could easily slip out if you have it upside-down.

It's too bad that iRex didn't make a cover-attachment integral to the case the way Sony did.

I got my deluxe cover last week. I have used it a lot over the week and I agree with readinglaoud that the fact that the iLiad is only held at the bottom seems a little insecure.

The protection is good and stiff, the case more than doubles the thickness, but if you don't mind this, feels good in the hand and I personally find it good to hold with the front cover folded back when scribbling.

The price (as with the Iliad itself) is high for what you get... but I find it functional and attractive.

got mine today

M-edge cover....looks quite nice and wasn't too expensive about € 40 (thx to the low $).
However I find it difficult to get the stylus out of the Iliad therefore they seem to have made a place in the mid of the cover for it...
Yes it's secure and not too heavy.
The front is a bit too less hard for me but I'll take care for my "baby" when moving arround.

What is the difference betwenn iLiad Cover and iLiad Deluxe cover?

Anyone using them? I am bit reluctant to go for M-Edge, they look a bit bulky for me but people say Deluxe is bulky as wel....I am bit at loss here. I definitely need a cover that would protect screen but dunno which one.

don't buy the deluxe cover of the iliad unless you get extra atention about closing it, because the button for close if you close incorrectly, you can get a screen broken that implies go to irex support and 275 euros for the change of the screen.

Hmm.
Not much of a choise we have.

We have:
iLiad Cover - which is NOT fixed to the reader. So, basically useless for me.
iLiad Deluxe Cover - leather cover but a bit bulky and as kapoira says, dangerous for screen.
M-Edge different colours covers....not leather and I am not sure about their screen protection ability. Do they have some solid stuff in the front cover?

The Deluxe cover is bulky. It fits the iLiad quite well.
The normal cover is just a brown, alternative looking cover. Its not as bulky, but you need to attach velcro to make the iliad not fall out.
Both provide very good screen protection, because the cover has a 4mm thick plastic protection inside.
The M-Edge is much cheaper, than the deluxe cover. Its softer than the iLiad Deluxe cover, but almost as bulky. Its screen protection is not as good as the iRex ones, but should be sufficient if you handle with care.

I personally use the provided shoulderbag mostly, since it is easy to use, and it offer good protection for the screen while carrying it in a briefcase or backpack.

kapoira is right, you will have to pay attention with the deluxe cover button, since it can end up on the screen an be the cause of breakage, if not closed properly.

I am curious about this one. I like the colour and the look but how do I attach the velco strap to secure the reader?
Do you know of any pictures with the reader attached securely to the cover?

And where do you keep stylus when it is strapped to the cover?
You cannot keep it separately, because it drain battery power.

The color is a bit darker than on the image, and its going a bit into the redbrown. You have to glue the velcro to the reader. Thats why i do not like it very much. And i have to say, there is not really a "securly attached" with this cover. Its more a wrapper where you put in your device, while not reading.

I suggest to keep the stylus in the iLiad itself. The Deluxe and the M-Edge have a place to hold the stylus though.

Covers for the iLiad

Covers for the iLiad come in 2 categories. The first category is the iLiad Deluxe cover from iRex. A fine quality case that is robust, and elegant. It is heavy, weighing about 13.4 ounces almost as much as the iLiad 2nd edition which weighs 15.9 ounces. If you're putting this in your briefcase it's quite large wrt category 2 below. This cover provides great mechanical protection for the iLiad and if you're in and out of the car with your device all day long it's great.

The second best selling category are the Medge cases. They provide mechanical protection, are stylish, and fit in a briefcase just right. Our best seller available in black is the Genuine Leather case which is made of fine soft leather. The simulated leather covers come in Black Brown and Red. These are great covers for those who need style and protection.

Additionally, the Sedia Cushion case is a wallet style case made of cushion foam. Depending on your user model, this is a great case that provides lightweight protection for the iLiad while stored in your briefcase or purse.

Protect your iLiad with something. The device is pretty robust. However, they can break and this happens when the device is twisted or squished in the luggage. Take care.

Hard Case for the iLiad

I don't know of a hard case.

I'm looking for one though.

Hi,

Does the M-edge leather black book jacket can go inside the pocket case that included when you bought the iLiad 2nd Edition ?

I'm looking an additional protection for my iLiad when I bring it out from the included case for reading.

Thanks.

I have the simulated leather version and it does not fit inside the included case.
