What is the perfect pet?

My vote:

A nice green plant. Give it some sunshine, throw some water on it every now and then. It looks good, doesn't make any mess, can be left alone without furniture damage, and adds oxygen to the interior air.

We have plenty flying cockroaches (B-52s). They do fly right at you. Itʻs supremely annoying.

To be honest though I did say dog as my perfect pet. I've always been a dog person, but cat would have been the runner up. The iguana is neat,and you can't beat the coolness factor, but you can't play fetch with them, and while you can sort of snuggle with them that is mostly them sitting on you because you're warm

However, there is another interesting thing: a dog just loves us, the cat, it seems, loves no one (there are exceptions proving the rule), but the iguana - as safe: If you open - you'l be rewarded.

What a coincidence that you mention fighting chickens, because just this Tuesday, we visited an uncle up in my childhood 2nd home (grandparents' farm). It is a chicken-loving place, with a big Tyson chicken plant and seems like every farm has a stinky chicken house.

It has been a decade since we were up there, and I was surprised to find that every other farm had a field of fighting rooster houses. They are raised in their own individual fence enclosures with a single chicken "dog house" sort of shelter, so you can't miss or mistake it for anything else.

Must be big money in it, because people were even using their front yards to keep them in.

I think it is barbaric, but I know a lot of people are hooked on it. Blood games, old school style (ancient Roman).

A tomato plant. It requires care and attention like a pet, but at least you get tomatoes!!

Downside: Not at all affectionate. Could harbor bugs.

I adore cats...I'm trying so so very hard to not become a cat lady, but it might be inevitable at this point. I recently became allergic to them... how the hell does that work at 30 years old?
