Aren't you lucky! Both my 1G and 2G get 3 to 4 hours maximum battery. I've read a lot of other complaints about crappy battery life too. When I brought it up on the Apple official forums i was banned from the forums. (Another reason I hate Apple!)

Well, Wifi swallows battery very very fast. If you use it I can understand your concern. My issue with my iTouch (1G) is that the GPS functinalities don't work. I couldn't care less about GPS, particularly as it is a wi-fi only device.

You cannot damage the device by changing settings unless you apply firmware updates. The manual will have a procedure to reset the device back to factory settings and you can start again. Perhaps you could take it to a friend with DSL and use the CD. It will work for you once the settings are correct. Perhaps the tech support line can help if the first call is free? |

Me, too... I read on mine during nightshifts... Nothing to do but read, and I can read throughout the shift... 5-6 hours.

![]() ![]() P.S. Got my n800 talking to the Calibre server finally. And high time too, I was seriously considering a Droid. But this puts the iPod Touch back in the running for me as a PDA/reading/game device; I could always live with my current phone a while longer. Last edited by wayrad; 04-14-2010 at 08:18 PM. |

Excellent. I am glad you have it working.
You may need to change the order your computer chooses a network interface to connect to the internet, it sounds as though it wants to use ethernet first then dial up. Check the help thingy. I can tell you how to do it on a mac but someone else will need to help with windows. Now that you have the device set up and your computer has wireless you may not need to use the ethernet cable to connect to the router. I presume windows is telling you there is a wireless network available? If you get an iPhone it has all the features of an iPod touch and can make calls. Coverage in your area will be a big factor. The iPod touch 8GB is quite cheap though. |

I bought a book from Amazon Kindle and loaded it on to my iPod touch but I now have an iPhone and I want to read the book on the phone. How can I transfer it?

@berylmary, just load the kindle app on your iphone. it will show your book as a purchased item, just tell it to download it. that's it.

I'm no expert on this, but if you don't authorise the iphone at the Amazon site then you might have problems opening the book. At least that's the way it worked when I put the same book on my iTouch and also on a computer. Once you have authorised it you'll probably start getting messages offering to sync to the last page you read on either device. Good luck with it. Oh, and back on topic.... I find reading on the iTouch just fine, which really surprised me. I didn't expect to be able to use something that size, but have read several complete books already with no trouble. I love reading on my iPhone, but then again I used to use a PSP as an ebook reader before and got used to the small screen size.
I particularly like to use stanza as it fulfills my basic requirements - it's free and extremely customisable! Having read through this thread, I'm now researching alternatives. |

Back to using the iPhone as a reader; I walked a bit too far along the High Peak trail in Derbyshire yesterday so I sat at Parsley Hay station and read a Father Brown story, G K Chesterton, on my iPhone, while my husband walked back to fetch the car round by road. I certainly would not have had an e-reader with me. |

I love using my iTouch as an EBook reader. Between that, my Droid and my MAC I can get alot of reading done. Though I also agree the screen is too small. I anxiously await the day when the iPad becomes cheaper so that problem can be rectified.

I use my iPod Touch as my primary ebook reader. Yes, I have to "turn" pages more often, but the iPod fits in my hand nicely and it very easy to touch the right side of the screen with no effort. I keep my Dell Axim X30 as a back up in case anything happens to my iPod
