NOW should IPad have its own forum?

iPad is not a dedicated reader device, not even close. If you actually watched the announcement you'd see, there was far more emphasis put on web browsing, and even authoring office documents than there was on reading.

You have got to be joking. Apple is making deals with textbook companies for the iPad. Apple is making deals with magazine and newspaper companies for the iPad. Apple is making deals with the book publishers for the iPad.

Did you hear all the hubbub about Apple's new deals with the book publishers and Amazon's reactions?

Apple's iPad is the biggest threat to Amazon's kindle ever. More than all of the other readers (that happen to have their own forums) including the Sony reader (which has multiple forums for some reason) and the Nook. It has already caused a greater reaction from Amazon (in changing their publishing rates, etc) than any other reader on the market.

The fact that it does other things well and that it is compatible with the iphone/itouch should not hinder it from taking its place with other Readers in the forum.

Agreed. I think dedicated readers should have forums by manufacturer.

Other devices should be sorted by device type--maybe Apple deserves it's own for it's devices.

But other wise I'd say have a forum for Tablets once they start rolling out in greater numbers, one for Smart Phones/PDAs and their reader programs one for all the PC reading programs for use on PCs, Laptops, Netbooks etc.
