360 PocketBook 360 compatibility with Mac - Page 5

Mmmm... I do not want to sound crude, but what would they put? The device actually works in Windows XP, Vista and 7 (tried it personally on the three: I can't speak about older Windows versions), in Linux systems (tried it personally in Ubuntu and Puppy), and in Mac (no personal experience, as I've got no Mac to try

). The only flawed case is this one, the fact that it seems not to plug correctly on older versions of Mac... Of course, it must be addressed (and as you can see, Pocketbook does address it), but in my opinion it's overkill to put a "list of OSes in which it works", as the only issue comes with Tiger 10.4 in Mac. In fact, a footnote saying "beware with older Mac versions" is fair enough.

Nevertheless, you bring a good topic: Pocketbook's literature is sadly lacking in English. Even developers have complained about the lack of documentation.

I feel for you bowiegirl1982. I'm the one that started this thread. I never got my PB360 to mount on my Powerbook running Tiger. Instead, I just used my PC at work. Since then I've upgraded to a MacBook Pro, only about two weeks ago, and have not moved my library or set up my PB360 yet on my new computer. According to the boards here it should work.

But you are right. Upgrading your OS is not an answer. I also asked before I purchased and was led to believe I wouldn't have a problem.

You can't possibly believe that a device's "System Requirements" is an unusual thing to list. Just about every piece of software and hardware has system requirements. I don't think...

System Requirements: Windows XP or above, Linux Kernel X.X or above, and Mac OS X 10.5 or above

...is that hard to list.

For a simple UMS drive, asking for a special version of the OS is nonsense, or your device have a bug.

Well, sorry. If you don't want to upgrade your Mac operation system, please return the reader with a small piece of paper explaining why you return it and we will, of course, repay your money. Again sorry for the trouble.

Don't give up. It is a nice reader. I have the same problem as you (10.4.11 on a MacBook). I use a card reader and put my books on the memory card. PB sees them on the card. I'm hoping to upgrade my system soon and hopefully that'll fix the direct connection issue. Until then I happily use the memory card with a card reader.

Yes, I do that all the time. Only problem is you have to use disk utiliies to unmount the "drives" as ejecting them does not work correctly.

The problem was that I was not fully charged. After charging, I connected to my Mac and voila, there was a Pocketbook 101 folder. Since that was the only folder, I could only add books.

To upgrade the firmware to 15.3, I had to use a SD card method which was successful.

Happy to be starting the new year with the new firmware.
