Better for the thousands who hold these jobs perhaps, but not for the millions who are then forced to buy overpriced goods. That's the thing with the "keep the jobs local" bunch - they pretend that it's the Chinese who'll pay for keeping jobs in America. Whereas it's actually the rest of Americans who'll pay out of their own pocket for keeping uncompetitive US manufacturers afloat. And it's honest American makers of the iPhone who'll suffer, because their would-be customer has been forced by tariffs and trade barriers to spend all his money instead on propping up the whinging "buy American" businesses.

Why don't you let the customers decide about the quality? If they keep buying, then obviusly they believe the quality is good enough, especially given the much lower price. As for the "lower wages in the US", you evidently mean "lower wages for uncompetitive US manufacturers". Well those manufacturers need to realize no-one owes them a living, become more efficient or find something more profitable to do. It's sheer lunacy to use America's educated workforce, world-class infrastructure and all the other competitive advantages to make soft toys and T-shirts that can be made just as well by an uneducated peasant in some crumbling African dictatorship.
