Well it didn't stand the test of time since all those effects just seem outdated by now.
![]() Anyways back on topic: Lilja4ever (Lilya 4 ever) is - eventhough it's quite a socialrealism movie, which I'm not a particular fan of - just a movie everyone should see. If the intro seems kind of vague: Last edited by Laz116; 12-22-2009 at 08:22 PM. |

Lilja 4-ever is a great movie, no doubt. Have you seen any of his other films? Fucking Åmål is terrific and I thought Tillsammans (Together) was very enjoyable.
Though Bergman has passed it's good to see the Swedes haven't lost their great film making capability. I though Let the Right One In was one of 2008's best films. Marvelously atmospheric. |

You might want to check out some of Simon Stahos movies. He is a Danish director filming primarily in Sweden with Swedish casts. His films has a lot in common with Moodyssons darker films... and he's inspired a lot by Bergman. |

I saw Moon today and loved it. Very though-provocative and brilliant acting!
All the talk about K-Pax reminded me of another movie I loved was Martian Child. A sci-fi author adopts a boy that thinks he's from Mars. I was skeptical at first, but ended up pleasantly surprised. Last edited by Crusader; 12-25-2009 at 03:18 PM. |

I recommend the film Birth with Nicole Kidman. It is haunting and beautiful with a wonderful score. There is a pedophilia angle that you would have to overcome.

Silent Running
I mentioned this film earlier in this thread. An environmental sci-fi. Just came across a trailer of it, so I thought to post it.

Brothers- just watched it tonight it was great, wasn't expecting Toby Mcguire to do such a great job. its a small movie but if its showing in a theater near you i strongly recommend this.

Interesting. It's a remake of a Danish movie, and when I heard that Tobey Mcguire should play the older brother, I thought: "oh that's horrible casting right there".

Just saw "The Road". I can understand why the acting is being applauded. but this is THE most depressingly depressing movie let alone story I can think of. not a date movie for damn sure. and if you have any "issues" about life at the moment. don't even THINK about it!!!

Bright Star
I saw Bright Star recently and thought it was excellent!
It is a drama/tragedy romance about 19th century poet John Keats and the emotionally driven Fanny Brawne. It has beautiful acting and is a well composed film. |
