Well, I ordered a used copy of "The Road" and then went ahead and bought the ebook as well. Hey it's a Pulitzer winner though so nothing wrong with spending $15 for two copies.

Its a feature of the messageboard software, they can either choose to allow post deletion or not, the alt text must just be the default.

I just bought the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. I also bought several Webscriptions (I didn't think to give them away until it was too late).

Let us know how it works out for you. I've been thinking about reading it - even went so far as to give my brother the book for his birthday in March - but it looks rather depressing and bleak.

I just bought and started reading Heatwave by Richard Castle. Richard Castle is the fictional writer in the tv show Castle and the book was written in character, with the author bio matching that of the character on the show. They haven't yet released who the real author is, though there is a quote by James Patterson on the cover, so that MIGHT be a clue. I'm still on the first chapter, but so far it is a fun read.

Yes, my understanding is that most of his work is rather dark, some more than others. My reasons are 3 for reading it -- it's a post-apocalyptical story and it won the Pulitzer. Plus I saw Brandi Carlyle praising it a couple of days ago.

I'll report back.

I love Castle, although I have not watched any of the new episodes since it started back up a little while ago. I didn't realize there was a book out -- I'll have to go look for it!

My last purchase was a paperback of Breathers. I enjoyed the book, but found I missed reading on my Kindle. I was bothered by the slight marring of the book as I read it. I always try to take good care of books but paperbacks always wear with each read. It's bothersome to me. I kept wanting to check the time, and when I finished reading it I didn't have anything else to read on break.

The last ebook I bought was Soul Intent

My last purchase was "Captains Fury" by Jim Butcher. It's the fourth in the Codex Alera series, I thought I'd try it as I enjoyed the Dresden books (so much better then the TV adaptation...) and I was hooked straight away. Bought the first three books and read them cover to cover in two days (I was off work for a week so could read all day it was great ) and then bought Captains Fury when it came down to a reasonable price. I can definitely recommend this series, better than the Dresden books imo.

Yay Shantaram, an amazing book. It got me interested in Bombay, and I just bought Sacred Games, a phenomenal detective novel, or more of a life of a detective and his city and the criminals he knows, which I liked enough that I just bought a copy for someone else, but not a Kindle copy, because she doesn't have an e-reader.

I also just bought, in hardcover because it's not available on e-reader, Maximum City, also about Mumbai (aka Bombay), but non-fiction. (I think that Shantaram is supposed to be based on fact, but it's a bit too sensational for me to totally believe it.)

About 4 days ago I purchased A Fiery Peace In A Cold War by Neil Sheehan. I am about one-third of the way through and it is excellent.

I am guessing the real author is Stephen J Cannell, an excellent writer who you might remember from Rockford Files or The A-Team or several other shows. Three reasons.
1. He also was quoted on the version of the cover I saw.
2. He has had a cameo part in the first episode of both seasons.
3. He usually writes one Shane Scully book and one standalone a year and releases the standalone in January. This year no standalone.

I think they do not intend to tell us who the author is until the end of the series, if then. This is really an ingenious idea! The first season consisted of Castle researching a book and then an actual book was released last month. How cool is that?

After reading and thoroughly enjoying your book His Robot Girlfriend, I downloaded your Princess of Amathar from Smashwords. Have a few books ahead of it at the moment, though, but it's on my rotation list of books to read.
