FYI, I'm not a two year old. I think Mr Murphy works for Bookeen if you look at their track record of delayed releases. Were not talking about a one time thing here.

The fact that Murphy's law is well know among the people working in programing and electronics is not a coincidence. And bookeen deal with with both, twice the trouble. I don't know about previous update, and well, i don't care !

And you think in other companies things never get delayed ? They just don't give a release date until things are done, so you don't know about delay. When you deal

Yeah, I heard they implemented folder support as well...
They did ! Works a charm, i use it everyday

Still, you're getting frustrated over what ? A delayed firmware update ? Not worth it.

I'm not frustrated in anyway. (I don't even have a bookeen device) I guess you took my comment more seriously than I really meant it.

I got delivery of my Cybook Opus about a week ago. I'm very pleased with it.

Over all, I like the nice, clean design where the bulk of the reader is its screen. I was worried that it would have the same cheap feel that the CyBook 3 does, but despite the plastic case, it looks and feels great. The light weight is great for one-handed reading. I like the pouch that it ships with, and don't see any need to buy a cover.

I have a few nits, but none very serious.
  • For me, the page up/down buttons are on the wrong side. I like to hold the Opus in my left hand, but can't conveniently reach the buttons.
  • Navigating folders is a bit awkward. It's ok if you read linearly, but sometimes I like to flip back and forth between a couple of books in different folders. A "recently accessed books" view would be nice.
  • The device's portability has been a little over-stated. It's nice and light and fits happily into my knapsack or laptop case. But it's too big for pockets.
  • I found the accelerometer engaged at times I didn't intend, and wound up disabling it.
  • And of course I am now joining the ranks of people waiting for the firmware fix for the freeze-up problem. But I really can't complain too much here since I knew about it before I bought.
I can imagine one day getting a second reader with a larger screen, but for now am very happy with this one.

Putting e-ink device in you pocket is NOT a good idea. e-ink screens are glass and fragile. So handle your opus care.

Reallly ? I though it did reverse the buttons to "next" is up, and "back" is down.

Navigating is not that easy, but can't find ideas to get it better.

Turn it upside-down; the screen and the button functions will flip. That's why it has an accelerometer - so it can be used in either hand.

As was suggested, a recently accessed menu with the last 5 or so books would enhance it very much. All my pdf readers or editing programs on my N810 have this and it is very convenient and useful.

ah-ha! I didn't realize that and was confused about how to use it left-handed.

Thanks Harry!

I must say I'm much happier with the Opus on my second go around. This one doesn't have the stiff and noisy button. It's also only locked up once in reading three books, instead of 9 times in two and a half books (2 days). I might have just had a bum unit the first time.

That is good to know. I hope that the new one keeps on working better for you!
