I'm enjoying my 600 very much. You have to understand, I started with an eBookwise and I've missed the ability to make notes (identify OCR errors to go back and correct, generally) and to search within a book ever since I switched to eInk.

The dictionary is a nice bonus (I was reading a non-fiction book on the 1918 flu epidemic recently and could have used it then!), even if it wasn't a "must-have" thing for me.

I love the search feature within the table of contents, as well as the new ability to click on a letter of the alphabet to take me to that section of the TOC. (Did I mention I have 1300 books on my MemoryStick?) The 505 was a vast improvement on the 500 in the management of the TOC for book-hoarders like me, and I think the 600 is another strong step up.

Yep, the screen's ... uh, reflectiveness (don't want to say glare, y'know) ... is significantly greater than the 505. I have to wiggle the screen around a bit to find a good reading angle and avoid the ... reflected light ... and my own reflected face! But I tend to read during lunch at work and at home at night after. (Okay, and in line at the post office, grocery store, Target, etc.) The reflectivity is no greater than I had with the eBookwise, though, so it's not something I've never worked around before.

I also would say that there's a noticeable - but small - difference in ... what would I call it? Contrast? I find myself increasing a font size automatically at home (not great lighting at home) to offset. I did that with the 505 sometimes, too, just not so automatically. I do think Sony should have made the increments between the 5 font sizes smaller. I really have a hard time imagining anyone reading at the XXL size. But I tend to build my ebooks in Calibre so that the S is my comfortable font size to start with. So maybe a purchased ebook that begins smaller would be one I'd go higher than M on...)

I'm very happy with the purchase and will hang on to the 505 as a backup reader. Today I gave my eBookwise to a coworker who's been borrowing it for the last couple of years (since I got the 500, actually). And I have another friend who actually seems to like that stupid Cybook and will likely be taking it off my hands soon (despite my attempts to sway her to just get a new 300 or 600!)

Finally - and I guess this makes me shallow - but I just love the red 600! It's so much "sexier" than the "dark blue" 500 or 505.

(Oh, and feel free to top off your hip flask from the tub!)

I agree with all you say Fizzy. I came from the 505, I had the silver and red ones (and yes the red is sexy lol)....my 600 is the black one as I wanted to keep all my readers different colours....
I love the new features on the 600 and cannot imagine not having them now. It is a real pleasure to use, though I will keep both my 505's as backups as I love them too and now can carry one around with me and not be as worried about breaking it as I have 3 readers now.
I too may increase the font to M when reading is not so good lighting, same as you I create my files in the font size I prefer as S.
Yes, the screen is not as clear, the reflectiveness can be an issue if you don't learn how to compensate, by angling during the day or using a light when needed. I use my mighty bright clip on, and with that the screen looks as unreflective as my 505 and almost as good contrast too, so I am very happy now, using my mighty bright and don't feel the need to increase font size when using it. After all, I should use it far more than I do for my eyes sake lol the 600 makes sure I light up more than I previously did ......
I got the proporta leather case for mine and love it. It is beautiful quality, nicely padded and very sturdy, making the reader feel protected and comfy, it folds back real easy too, and stays open if you don't want to fold it back.

I got my *red* 600 last Thursday in the mail. I bought mine from SonyStyle US. I'm a first time owner and I'm loving it! The 600 really looks good, feels good and works good. I'm so glad I decided on a 600 and the red color is super hot!

I hadn't thought of doing that, but now that you mention it...yet another reason I'm glad I have the 600! I've got a few ebooks with errors, so that will definitely come in handy. Thanks!

Whoa! FizzyWater, turn up that gramophone and I'll grab my flask. Seriously, I loved my ebookwise as well, but the reflection/glare was just too bad and some text documents would not down load. I used it to down load college papers and pdf docs to. The conversion they use does not work well for some things. I have several ereaders but my standby is the 505 and I have been missing the dictionary look up and writing response on the ebookwise since I got rid of it. So, I appreciate the 600 for the same reason you do.

I am so excited! I ordered a red one from Best Buy and I should see it Wednesday or Thursday - though the sooner the better because I paid extra for the fastest shipping possible!!!!! I can't wait! This device is in addition to my K2.

Ordered my 600 Silver today, considered the red but thought that I would like the silver for longer,,,we'll see. I have to wait 2 - 6 business days hopefully sooner rather than later, hopefully 6 days not 16 days.

BLack reader, black cover. I like it a lot.

Still only a few days in, so when I read I still have that 'what buttons can I push' feeling in the back of my mind. Previous experience indicates it'll take a week of usage for me to get over that, so I suspect I'll be completely at ease by the weekend.
