By the way I love the new EZreader firmware and will be looking forward to the updates that will hopefully also add ereader to the Digital Editions.
For now I love my EZreader but if in the future that is on that is the 9.7 inch screen and is as good or better than the EZreader I will be go that route. You know the older the eyes the need for the bigger screen.

Thanks so much for all the information that you do and can give us.

I agree with Chuck - The new firmware allows me now to read Library Books and when the Ereader DRM upgrade comes it will allow me to read my collection of Ereader books on my EZ-Reader as well.

No other Ereader Company has been more accessable to your customers (and critics) - Thanks!

Quick question, just for knowledge sake.

When you are in a book, and you turn the machine off. When you turn the machine back on, does it start right back where you left it, on page xx? Or are you in a menu and you have to click the book, and continue where you left off?

As I said, it's just for knowledge sake, as I will rarely turn the machine off, but just put it in standby mode.

As you say there is no reason to turn it completely off but if you do it will close down the application and Linux. When you power up you will be at the book library list. You can select recent book and select the book to begin where you left off. Turning fully off is the same as a computer shutdown.

I am not putting anybody down... but why deprive yourself for a few months of a really spectacular device like the Pocket PRO IS over $20. This device, in my humble opinion is a breakthrough. All those who said: "I want more speed", "I need pdf reflow", "I want to personalize by having it in color", "I need more grey scale", "I want drm capability", "I want to be able to buy from almost any website"... THIS IS THE ANSWER!!

You know what I do see... prices going up and by the time you want to buy you may not have the color choice you want. We CANNOT assure that the choice you want will be available. We have, right now, 200 of each. We can order more but it takes time!
Robertb,

You have delivered on everything within your control. You never said the price of the Pocket Pro would be $200. Had you been able to deliver it at that price I am sure there would be some who would complain that the price should only be $150.

The Pocket Pro is well worth the few dollars more.

I also received today a confirmation, as you said we would, on the color of my pre-order.

I suggest exiting the book before turning off. I'm not sure it is necessary, but this makes certain that the last page read is correct for your book.

Dear Musicman:

Your posts are always great and I thank you for the input.

You would be surprised how your last sentence cheers me. Yes, being online brings me in touch with our customers and our hoped-to-be customers... and critics. There is a lot of pain doing this. When some people want things they want them NOW. Others call you a lying swinedog salesperson. The worst is the infamous "vaporware" clubbing. Still others, no matter how many times you politely bring up that the PocketPRO is a milestone in eBook Reader portability and travelability AND strength of features... they insist on waiting for the AdobaWooba Sloppo which is not one tenth the device and may set a new standard for fishing anchors.

What I have found is I cannot change the world... only make myself more accessible to good people who are smart buyers and judge a product fairly. If they do that... I am fulfilled!

As the old saying goes You can please some all the time and some some of the time then there are the ones that you can never please.
This is a fact of life and you have to roll with the punches.
That was a very smart mentor that worked with me years ago when I first got in to the business of customer support.

You just have to love it.

Thanks! I remember someone asking about this before, and I was curious as well. But never seeing an answer, I thought I'd ask.

I don't plan on shutting mine down, except maybe once a week or so for a reboot/refresh. Unless anyone has heard or knows whether constant reboots would lower the estimated battery life or not.

RobertB-
Quick question: does the V5 have a post/hole for a wrist strap? I use a wrist strap all the time with my Sony 700 and with my Kindle (had to attach it to the zipper of my M-Edge case). Also, just in case you missed it: will there be dictionary look up functionality when EReader is ported to the Astak line?

actually he said it a few times the price will be
$159 in the beginning.
and recently, up until right before his NDA, he said the price will be $200-210

I agree that its still an okay price. but you can get used kindles or 505s for 150 now, refurb kindle with full warranty is only $199 new 505s went for 200 not too long ago.

if it was 159, I would buy it right now, no questions asked
if it was 200 I would buy it now.
but is over my price range for a 5". as I can pick up a jet book for 180 tax incl.

edit: JR music world just leaked the price of the sony 5 inch as $199. http://www.jr.com/sony/pe/SON_PRS300RC/

I do not recall him suggesting a price of $159.00. As for the comparison of a used or refurb Kindle or Sony is like comparing apples to oranges. These units are tainted being used or refurb and the Sony is obsolete.

As for the Sony 5" is concerned, we will have to wait and see what the actual unit is like and the final for sale price.

That aside, the features on the Pocket Pro suit my needs more than any other e-reader on the market. Your needs are not necessarily the same as mine and these other options are viable for you.

The quotes are from April 2008 - that is why I do not recall reading them since I joined MR in 2009.

I stand corrected on that issue.

Since it took well over a year to bring this reader to market, I image things changed between then and now.

A good reason not to quote prices untill they are set in stone.
