Couple of observations:
- There is quite a bit of red push in the image, so it may be turning the more neutral Kindle screen into pink mud, while helping diminish the green tint of the LCD;
- If this is transflective mode, it is still backlit, and thus not a fair contrast comparison to the Kindle.

Yup...my nx73v has an early TR display and even still at the better part of a decade old, it still works wonderfully outside. But I do get the point that with a larger display not only are there still power considerations. Also larger TR displays might not be as easy to read on them compared to smaller displays like a PDA along with epaper tech displays.

The red shift is simply from the poor exposure and I purposely did not want to alter anything related to color because there will always be one in the group to come along and find something.

What I just did was bump the exposure by about 1/3-stop to get closer to the correct bezel color of the Kindle. I just changed the image in the post. But left the copy with the non-altered exposure on in the gallery as well.

My display is well calibrated am not sure if yours is...but even identically calibrated LCD displays can and often do, display images differently. That is why properly exposed shots are very important.

Also, I was working with a JPG not a RAW file, so my options are seriously limited. I also did not want to spend 4hrs on the edit.

To my eye, bumping the exposure, it actually seems to have made the difference between the two displays more greater in favor of the 3Qi. But as I said, that is on my display. It's not my image and, well, that is the best it is going to be from my end of trying to help. I am well aware of the short comings in the image, but like it or not, it is what it is.

BTW, I do not in any way care if the mode on the 3Qi display is "unfair" to the Kindle...I ONLY CARE about what works for me...and from personal use I know for a fact that the Kindle falls far short as do all eink displays I have personally used.

On raw specs the Pixel Qi display should be sharper - it has a 205dpi screen, while the Kindle has a 167dpi screen.

Right, resolution is better but I'd like to compare the contrast too.
