The only time I even notice the author's gender is when they have very strong opinions about genders, like I read a book (drawing a blank on the title/author) where males were portrayed as ignorant, power hungry, sex addicts. I found the entire thing a bit over the top.

I don't really notice the author's name unless I am reading something from the literary cannon or the author is really famous, so I don't know the ratio and I don't pay it any mind.
