Are they having any trouble with DRMed eBooks or are you helping them sort that out?

On the topic of DRM, I find it interesting that the Jetbook website doesn't mention that it only reads non-DRM eBooks. I find this vaguely misleading, especially as they are presenting it to the general public in BBB. Of course they say that their titles are free, so perhaps that would be a hint.

Number of titles
Unlimited. 30 popular WEB sites that we have located hold at least 500,000 FREE access books and audiobooks. You can also request a title from us which we will find and send to you right away.

Cost of titles
FREE. Ask us what you need and we will run Internet search for you FREE
I wonder what they will say when someone calls and asks for "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. I'm assuming it will still be a free Internet search, but I hope it won't result in a free eBook.

Edit: Yes, I know I'm over simplifying and there are multiformat eBooks to be had at Fictionwise. However, I'm not sure how many people are going to understand about DRM limitations before they pick up their new Jetbook with the 20% off coupon.

And how long will they have to return it when they find out that it's not going to work for them to read the eBooks they want? And if anyone goes past this time limit, then that will put them off the idea of eBooks big time. And then they'll go tell others of this mess. So basically, having no DRMed formats or even bothering is going to be bad for eBooks.

They don't read DRMed books and I never purchased DRMed books too.
By the way, I think fictionwise will start selling Bestsellers in MultiFormat very soon.

I would love to see Fictionwise sell bestsellers in multiformat DRM free. Do you think they may someday support ePub in their multiformat offerings?

ePub is very popular format (Google and Gutenberg already converted ALL books to this format). I think Fictionwise may support ePub format too.

But if Fictionwise decides to use eReader based DRM, that will not work well at all.

In fact it will confuse the issue even more, how will the retailers differenciate between the different 'flavours' of ePub? There is non-DRM, Adobe-DRM, and perhaps soon to be eReader-DRM. So far they all seem to marketed as "ePub" with no differentiator. I consider myself pretty tech savy and I'm already getting confused. At least the other DRM formats have unique names so I know which ones to avoid/adapt and which ones I can just load and go onto my Cybook/BeBook.

I might have to go check this out just to see how it compares to my Sony. I know someone who got this e-reader from Fry's. And she wasn't too happy with it.

I mostly agree. With DRM and without DRM are no problem. It's when we get ePub with a different DRM scheme that we'll have major issues. I can see people with a 505 or 700 purchasing ePub from Fictionwise to find out it doesn't work and then not being able to return it. I'm hoping Fictionwise doesn't go this route as it won't be to their benefit at all as more readers eventually use ADE and not whatever it is they come up with.

JSWolf, will Fictionwise ePub purchases NOT work on a Sony Reader (505 or 700)?

[Edited] Nevermind. The book I bought on Fictionwise was a Ereader (DRM) book, not an ePub book. Dang, I can't keep it straight.
