I have tried most suppliers, the only time I encountered any problems was through inadvertent digit error when I misunderstood the term ereader (palm) on Books on Board.

Back on topic, I received an email from Waterstones in reply to my query about difficulties searching for ebooks specifically and the organisation of the site, plus availability of various colours for the Sony ereader.

I have looked into your enquiry and I can confirm that unfortunately as
this is an exclusive item we have limited information and ebooks available
at the moment.

We must have permission from the publishers to advertise and sell their
titles on our website, until we obtain these titles from the publisher we
are unable to sell them, if you wish to complain further please contact the
publishers directly.

It is our priority to get the ebook titles on the website and we are doing
all we can to do this fast, unfortunately we must ask for your patience
whilst rectify this issue.

Regarding the technical difficulties you have been experiencing whilst
trying to use the advanced search function to find ebooks online.
Unfortunately this facility is still being refined at present.

As the Sony reader is a new release product, our priority is to get as many
titles online before the completion of the search facility. Hopefully the
issues should be rectified shortly.

I thank you for your patience and do apologise for any inconvenience this
may cause.

I fear it's a case of Waterstones getting embroiled in a technical project for which they were unprepared. Hopefully they will get a handle on things quickly, now they are beginning to understand the issues, and the interest out here on the internettyweb.

How do you get a virtual credit card? I just spoke to Amex and they will not register a second shipping address in the US if your permanent address is in Europe.

Others have recommended that I use Entropay - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...ded#post445103

I haven't tried it yet as I understand there are fees and I haven't needed to buy more books so far!

Use entropay here: http://www.entropay.com/

You create the virtual card and then load it up with a bunch of money from your real credit or debit card. As mentioned there is a 5% fee for the transfer; so if you load $50 onto the virtual card then you'd pay a $2.50 fee for example.

Many Thanks NuclearWinter. This works like a charm! I have immediately downloaded my first book from the Sony ebookstore.
