Who knows. I always say I was born in 1901 when I fill out the registrations and surveys. Normally list my hobbies as skydiving (pretty good for 108 years old) and my occupation as "other". Love to mess with market research.

Ouch!!! I too in my 40's couldn't afford gadget thingies, but at 72 have a Kindle, with another Mark 1 Kindle winging it's way from America, plus an HP iPaq and an iPhone 3G.

Love gadgets and ereading.

I'm mostly a lurker around here, but I thought I'd poke my head out to represent "young" people reading! I'm 27; I bought my Kindle at 26 and I bought my first e-book reader at 24. There are still young people reading, and we don't all want iPhones!

And it's not that I had a tremendous amount of disposable income, either (I was still in college when I bought my Ebookwise), it's that I wanted the readers that badly

I'm surprised (pleasantly so) at the age range we have represented here. I'm clearly on the younger end of the spectrum clocking in at 28, and most of the Kindle owners I know are my age or slightly older. Glad to see that the technology has been heartily embraced by all age groups!

Let's see, I'm going to be 57 this year. I got my first ebook reader in the mid 90s. I built my first computer from scratch when I was 32 and just starting law school.

My first ebook reader was a Rocket Ebook 1100. I still have it. It still works. And, I still have the software to create books for it .... somewhere in that disaster I call my "workshop".

I'm 43 and a Kindle owner. I also read all the Twilight books while my teenage sons wouldn't have anything to do with them. (BTW, I share my Kindle with no one).

47. first e-reader. i've been watching this technology closely for over 15 years. fan of: hitchhiker's guide, inspector gadget (animated), the diamond age. ordered k2 yesterday.

i am most relieved to see that younger people still read!

i never worried about it until i heard that reading is purported to be on the decline. then i thought, "whoops. guess we took some stuff for granted.." but maybe not.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more younger e-reader users on here. The only people I've seen with e-readers are from my high school, where frustratingly, they are banned.
