My wife tells me that I strongly resemble the tv show, Big Bang Theory, so I suspect that I'm a nerd, yes.

I may have been a geek once upon a time, but as the windows OS system developed I became increasingly 'left behind'; so at my age I'll say I'm now just a nerd - and I write just a little too ....

That pretty much sums me up too. Although amateur astronomer is getting to be priority number one nowadays.

I am neither a geek nor a nerd. I am too well-rounded to fit any label.

(I'm an engineer, a Camaro fanatic, I have more cameras and computers at home than any one person should have, I love video games although I can't remember the last time I played one, I dislike most science fiction, I love anime but dislike giant robots fighting in space, I love to knit and scrapbook, which I do with paper and digitally. Does that make me "geek", "nerd", or something else? )

Well, you are a "Michigander" which is a strange enough label without adding more...

Cool. What kind of robots do you build? What kind of software. I'm a ASP.NET/C#/Sql Server guy myself, but I'm very interested in ASP.NET MVC.

Haven't seen the show, but it's kind of hard to imagine anyone resembling a t.v. show

Michigander? You sound like you know what you're talking about--is that really the term for someone who hails from Michigan?

Thanks for the pointer, Verencat, I had missed that thread! Pev's robots are cool, and I was happy to find out that there are so many other talented MRers too!

Yes, I do know whereof I speak. Being from Wisconsin, right next door to Michigan...

We get to call ourselves "Wisconsites," which sounds like some form of fossilized poo. An alternative form is "Wisconsiners," which sounds rather perverted.

I went to school in a small town in Iowa called Le Mars, which made me a temporary Le Martian.

Folks from Illinois call themselves "Illinoisians." We just call them "Annoying."

Okay, pardon my dementia but what's the word that means "what you call someone based on where they're from"?
